Not a Morning Person? Here’s How to Become One.

To become the entrepreneur you want to be, you’ll need to make some positive changes. Waking up early is one change that’s completely within your control. Stop hitting the snooze button and start each day on your own terms. Self-identified “morning people” might find it easy to roll out of bed, but “night owls” are also capable of converting themselves into early risers. Here are some ways to make it happen:

Establish a morning routine

Rolling out of bed isn’t easy for a lot of people. Develop a consistent morning routine that you can do with your eyes closed. Decide what you’re going to wear the night before to avoid making a last-second decision. Give yourself enough time to brew a fresh pot of coffee or cup of tea. Organize your schedule the night before so you know exactly what needs to be done first thing in the morning. Focus on creating consistency at the start of each day — regardless of your personal routine.

Decrease nightly screen time. 

Studies show that blue light from computers, TV and cell phones can keep people from getting a good night of rest. Losing valuable sleep could result in grogginess and a less-focused mindset throughout the day. End your screen time an hour or two before you go to bed to decrease any negative symptoms associated with staring at monitors all day.

Invest in sleep. 

A peaceful slumber is the best remedy for a busy entrepreneur. Use the two tips above as a starting point to experiencing better sleep. You could also try meditation, breathing exercises or reading a book as other ways to settle down before bed. It’s important to make sleep a priority since it’s shown to be directly related to a person’s productivity and cognitive abilities. Make sure to get enough sleep – your mind and body will thank you!

It won’t take long for you to adjust to waking up earlier in the morning. Once you get used to it, you’ll have extra time to spend as you choose. Develop consistency in your morning routine, limit your nightly screen time and set aside enough time each night for quality sleep. You’ll turn yourself into a morning person in no time.
