5 Essential Tips for Small Business Owners
October 26, 2020

It’s been a hectic year for small business owners, but the spirit of entrepreneurship is stronger and more resilient than it’s ever been. Through all the challenges and obstacles of the past year, our people at BVM have worked diligently to weather the storm and become even more successful in the end. We know just how difficult it can be to start a business, and we want to help by offering a few tips to inspire the entrepreneurs who never shy away from the daily grind.
Avoid distractions.
With so many of us working from home, this seems more important now than ever. Resist the urge to scroll through Facebook or turn on your favorite Netflix series. You’ll want to give yourself a fair amount of time to eat lunch and take small breaks during the day, but don’t get carried away with it. It’s always smart to set limitations for yourself so you don’t spend too much time on unproductive activities. Help yourself by setting time limits at the start of your day and do your best to follow them closely.
Focus on the important tasks first.
As a small business owner, you know just how busy and stressful your days can be. Finish every day by jotting down the three most important tasks you need to accomplish the next morning. Wake up every day with a clear vision of what your day will look like. Your priorities may change throughout the day as new projects come up, but do your best to set some daily goals and work on them before diving into anything else.
Lean on your support network.
If you work with Best Version Media, you know how important it is to have a strong support system. We strive to offer unending support to all of our Publishers and understand the life of a small business owner. Get to know others in your industry and learn from them. Build relationships that will help you succeed through thick and thin. Tap into your clients’ minds and get inspired by what they’re doing to manage their own businesses. Surround yourself with people who know exactly what you’re going through so you’re never living the journey alone.
Don’t let your inbox control you.
We’ve all been victims of an overflowing inbox. Messages from clients, notes from business partners and, of course, all the spam and junk mail that we just can’t seem to control regardless of how hard we try. It’s way too easy to spend all morning or afternoon responding to unending email chains. Try limiting your time spent on emails to thirty minutes in the morning and another thirty minutes in the afternoon.
Dream big!
You should aim to be realistic when setting your long-term goals, but it’s definitely okay to dream big. Where do you want to be in five years? Do you want to expand the business? Focus on whatever it takes to position yourself for long-term success. Even the smallest improvements each day can lead to huge results over the coming months or years. Try not to put a ceiling over what you can achieve as an entrepreneur.
The only person stopping you from reaching incredible success is yourself. Use these five tips and apply them to your daily work. You control your destiny as an entrepreneur and business owner. Focus on what’s most important and avoid distractions, surround yourself with great people and always think big. The sky’s the limit!
