Brian Kofford, CPA: The Entrepreneur’s Accountant

In a profession often defined by compliance and calendars, Brian Kofford, CPA stands apart. With more than three decades of experience and the heart of an entrepreneur, Brian has built a public accounting practice that speaks the language of business owners—not just their tax returns.

Brian earned his Master of Accountancy in Tax from Brigham Young University in 1992. Rather than follow a traditional accounting path, he chose to build something of his own. In 2001, he founded and became the owner of a public accounting firm in Utah County, where he has since dedicated his career to serving entrepreneurs. That decision wasn’t accidental—it was personal. Brian is an entrepreneur himself, and that lived experience shapes every client relationship.

“Entrepreneurs face a different set of challenges,” Brian explains. “When you own the business, every decision matters—cash flow, taxes, growth, risk. I understand that because I live it too.”

That understanding has led him to develop a practice intentionally focused on entrepreneurial clients, helping them navigate both financial complexity and strategic growth.

Brian is known for his integrated approach to accounting and tax services. Rather than treating tax planning as a once-a-year exercise, he believes real value comes from year-round involvement.

“For us to be proactive and effective at delivering the most value to entrepreneur clients, we have to be involved in both the accounting and the tax,” he says.

That philosophy has helped hundreds of Utah County entrepreneurs scale their businesses with confidence, clarity, and fewer surprises.

At the core of Brian’s work is a genuine passion for people. He sees his role not just as an accountant, but as a coach—someone who helps business owners reach goals they’ve never reached before. He draws a parallel from his own life outside the office. As a recreational cyclist, Brian was accepted to ride the 2023 LoToJa, a grueling 207-mile ride from Logan, Utah to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, with more than 8,500 feet of climbing—the longest one-day road cycling event in the United States. Although he had ridden 100 miles before, he knew this challenge required guidance. So, he hired a coach.

“That experience reinforced what I see with entrepreneurs,” Brian says. “When you set big goals, you need someone who’s been there—or at least knows how to get you there.”

That mindset defines STRIV, the firm Brian leads. While many CPA firms are built primarily for annual tax preparation, STRIV is proactive, forward-thinking, and designed to operate as a true finance partner year-round. The result is a trusted advisory relationship rooted in experience, competence, and a shared entrepreneurial spirit. STRIV understands the entrepreneur and the challenges that come when a business grows.

For business owners looking for more than a tax preparer—someone who understands the journey and helps guide the climb—Brian Kofford, CPA offers both the expertise and the trust that come from walking the path himself.
