Inside the New West Franklin Rehab Expansion

As part of Bone and Joint Institute of Tennessee’s ongoing commitment to supporting patients with advanced orthopaedic care through the rehabilitation process, we are proud to announce a major expansion of our West Franklin facility, located at 1441 New Highway 96 W in Franklin.

A Larger Rehab Space Designed Around Patient Needs

The redesigned layout significantly increases square footage, giving patients more room to move, train, and progress through their recovery. This expansion allows for enhanced therapy programs, improved patient flow, and the integration of advanced rehabilitation and performance-based training closer to home.

New Equipment Areas: Indoor Performance Turf

The expanded space is designed to support every stage of rehabilitation and athletic development, serving patients of all ages, from elementary, middle and high school athletes to college and professional competitors. New resistive and strength-training equipment helps patients progressively build muscular strength and power to achieve performance goals, while additional cardio equipment and upgraded stations serve to enhance agility, plyometric and endurance-focused rehabilitation.

The expansion adds over 1,000 square feet of indoor performance turf, providing a safe, controlled environment for sport-specific drills and functional movement training. This specialized surface supports athletes recovering from injuries such as ACL tears, ankle sprains, hip sprains/strains, lower extremity surgeries, and other complex orthopaedic conditions. It allows space for patients to relearn movement patterns, rebuild strength, and perform higher-intensity performance work. The turf also cushions joints during dynamic activities, enabling safe practice of cutting, sprinting, pivoting, and acceleration, which are essential components for a confident return to competition.

While the expansion significantly enhances athletic recovery capabilities, the design continues to prioritize inclusivity. One half of the space still maintains a traditional therapy environment to support patients with standard rehabilitation needs, or those who are not yet ready for higher-intensity work.
Ryan Kelley, DPT/Rehab Manager at the West Franklin clinic said, “We are elated to expand our facility to better utilize the vast array of clinic experience and knowledge to reach all aspects of our athletic population. From pickleball to golf and football to softball, this space allows us a much more diverse and thorough rehabilitation experience to help patients reach their goals of performing activities they love and to compete at the highest level for which they desire.”

For many patients in the community, accessing high-quality rehabilitation once meant long drives, limited appointment options, or delaying care altogether. This expansion changes that. By bringing comprehensive rehabilitation and performance services closer to home, local patients now have easier access to the care they need when they need it. The expanded space allows our clinicians to spend more time with each individual, offer a wider range of specialized services, and support patients through every stage of recovery, helping them return not just to daily routines, but to the activities and lives they love.
