Taking the Sting Out of the Mosquito Problem
While a single mosquito bite is itchy and painful, the pain swarms of mosquitos can carry can pose a variety of threats. Mosquitos are not just an annoyance, but a widespread problem because of their tendency to spread a number of serious and even life-threatening illnesses to humans and animals. The West Nile virus (originally detected in the U.S. in 1999) and Zika (which made headlines a few years ago) continue to remind us about the importance of preventing the spread of mosquito-borne diseases. On that score, we shouldn’t forget about other devastating Mosquito-borne illnesses such as malaria and dengue that still appear in different places around the world.
Hydrex is doing its part on behalf of its clients to combat mosquito infestations by introducing our green mosquito-baiting program, N2Care. It was funded by the Gates Foundation and other philanthropic organizations and developed to combat malaria. Since its inception, it has been tested in many areas around the world where malaria is still rampant. Its effectiveness lies in a larvicide that prevents mosquito larvae from developing into adulthood as well as a fungus that kills adults and prevents the Zika and other virus types from spreading to new hosts…such as us humans!
What makes N2Care so appealing is that while it’s deadly to mosquitos, it is not harmful to humans or pets. In other words, a dog can spill a trap, but the accident will pose no harm to him or his people. This safe and green process is something we believe in and want more people in the community to learn about. If whole counties in Florida are using it as part of their vector control, think of what wonders it can provide for communities in Studio City and the San Fernando Valley.
