Travel Tips, Tools, and a Peek at the Process
One of my favorite parts of travel — the community.
My travelers often tell me they travel for the destination…But it’s the people who make it unforgettable. Shared adventures create instant connection- from trying new foods, exploring on foot or relaxing together after a full day- there’s something special about exploring the world with like-minded, curious people.
Shared challenges (like a hike), shared discoveries (like a cooking class), and shared awe (like seeing a landmark for the first time) create deep bonds.)
This is why I design trips around these pillars:
- Active exploration
- Cultural immersion
- Slower, more intentional travel
- Plenty of shared experiences
For many travelers, the community becomes the best part of the journey. However, a great group trip doesn’t happen by accident. It comes from research, relationships, and experience.
Here’s a peek behind the curtain on what really goes into crafting a small-group trip.
My Process
1. Research destinations for active + immersive cultural experiences
2. Vet local partners, guides, and boutique stays
3. Curate activities with the right mix of culture + adventure
4. Balance pacing (not too rushed, not too idle)
5. Add surprise moments + local secrets
6. Include flexibility, free time & optional add-ons
Behind every group trip I plan (and those I host) is months of strategy, design, and hands-on vetting. These are curated trips—not cookie-cutter tours. The result? Trips that feel effortless, thoughtfully curated, and full of connection.
To help you with your own travels, here are my tips and a few favorite tools for travel:
Budgeting Tips
- Set your “big 4” (trip, flights, insurance, extras)
- Book early for best pricing & flexibility
- Use travel cards to offset costs
- Pick experiences that matter most, not necessarily the most popular ones
- Travel during shoulder seasons for max value
Tech Tools
- Google Maps (offline usage and provides bus, train, and metro options along your route)
- WhatsApp (group messaging abroad)
- XE Currency or Currency Exchange International
- Airline apps for smooth check-ins and updates while traveling, but use Skyscanner.com or Google Flights to find the best flight options when booking flights.
Packing Tips
- Layers > bulky items
- Color-coordinated wardrobe + minimal shoes
- Compression cubes so you can avoid too many suitcases (a carry-on size roller bag & backpack are my ideal combo)
- Portable laundry soap sheets (not a liquid)
- A “grab-and-go” day bag/foldable backpack
