There’s something special about a community that shows up for the arts.
In Poway, the arts are more than entertainment—they are a cornerstone of community life. They bring us together across generations, inspire creativity in our young people and create shared experiences that stay with us long after the curtain falls. This is why the return of Taste of Our Towne, presented by Poway OnStage, is more than a festive evening—it is a meaningful investment in the cultural vitality of our region.
On Saturday, June 13, more than 300 arts supporters, community leaders and patrons will gather for this signature fundraising event, held under the stars on the Plaza of the Poway Center for the Performing Arts (PCPA). Returning by popular demand, Taste of Our Towne captures the spirit of North Inland San Diego County: welcoming, vibrant and deeply committed to the arts. The format is simple and elegant: tastings from local restaurants, wineries and breweries on the plaza, followed by a lively indoor auction and performance of Music is Magic featuring Chris Funk—a reminder of the transformative power of live performance to captivate, surprise and connect us.
But the real story is what the evening makes possible.
Proceeds from Taste of Our Towne support Poway OnStage’s Professional Performance Series and Arts in Education Initiative, programs that collectively reach more than 100,000 people each year across San Diego County. In an era when arts funding faces ongoing challenges, mission-driven organizations like Poway OnStage play an essential role in ensuring that access to the arts remains not only available but equitable.
It also underscores the value of having a professional performing arts center in our own backyard. Too often, access to world-class performances is associated with major metropolitan centers. Yet here in Poway, we are fortunate to have a venue that brings that level of artistry directly to our community. The PCPA is not just a venue—it’s a cultural anchor, connecting residents to world-class artists and ensuring that access to the arts isn’t limited by geography.
This event also reflects the power of community partnership. There are meaningful ways for local businesses and community members to get involved beyond attending. Sponsorships and auction contributions not only help make the evening a success, but also offer a way to visibly support the arts while connecting with a passionate, engaged audience. It’s a win-win: great exposure and a chance to be part of something that genuinely matters.
As one longtime supporter shared, “Taste of Our Towne is one of those rare events where you can feel the impact in real time. You’re surrounded by people who care about the arts, and you know that your support is helping bring those experiences to students and families across our community.”
In the end, Taste of Our Towne is a reminder that strong communities don’t just value the arts–they invest in them. And on June 13, that investment will be on full display, under the stars and on the stage.
And that’s something worth raising a glass to.
