You Are Doing Great, Mama!

Back to Articles

There is no greater push to grow and gain unfiltered, and unsolicited, self-awareness than motherhood. Upon entering this sacred, sacrificial, humbling, and emotional role of raising children, I was able to fully witness the strength and wisdom of my own mother and all of the mothers who came before me. The amount of respect I now have for women walking through this beautifully chaotic journey is ten-fold what it was prior to having children. No matter the circumstances of your work life and your role in the community, this one stewardship becomes most paramount, and many things you hold dear must be pushed aside.

As a mother running a business, I have had to relinquish control, lean on others, and succumb to the fact that I cannot do it all. To grow a business, you have to depend on others. This requires incredible trust and discernment. In growing my family, I was forced to grow my business, community connections, and foster a strong network of support. There is no downside to this. We can only thrive if we recognize the importance of those in our circle. I am surrounded by colleagues and friends who are hard working moms, and they all understand the challenges one faces in this dual role. Striking a balance between work and family is no small feat. That being said, I can’t imagine the struggles that come with being a full-time mom or a single mom. My hat goes off to them.

This Mother’s Day, take a moment to recognize the women around you who are playing an active role in their community while at the same time raising children to become the leaders of tomorrow. It is the hardest and probably, the most thankless job that is performed without complaint because the love of a mother never ceases.

Thank you, mom for all that you have done for me and all that you continue to do for me. I am forever grateful for your guidance, unconditional love, and vulnerability. God bless you. God bless all the mamas and Happy Mother’s Day.
