Park City Library sees record number of visitors in FY25

By Kristine Weller

The Park City Library is celebrating another banner year of community service.

Library Executive Director Adriane Juarez said the library hosted a record 261,000-plus visitors during the fiscal year ending June 30.

She said the library was again awarded “quality library” status from the Utah State Library Division for its programming, visitation and check-out numbers.

In all, 148,558 electronic and physical items were borrowed from the library in fiscal year 2025.

Juarez believes the library’s success is due to a 2015 renovation that added “smart” meeting rooms, public computers, a 3D printer lab, video recording equipment and a sound booth.

Prior to the renovations, fewer than 100,000 people visited annually.

Library programming also drew more than 54,451 patrons and support from almost 3,000 volunteers.

Summit County debuts draft plan for 910 Cattle Ranch recreation

By Connor Thomas

Summit County is seeking public input on its early recreation management plans for public access to the 910 Cattle Ranch open space area.

The 8,600-acre property is north of Jeremy Ranch and crossed by the unpaved East Canyon Road.

The preliminary plan would split the property into three zones: community, exploratory and conservation or research. Each would have different levels of access.

The community zone would have the most public access, including hiking and multiuse trails, a visitor center in an old ranch house and possibly an amphitheater. Dog walking would also be allowed.

Many things would be banned from the area including hunting, fires, drones, hot-air balloons, vehicles and straying from trails. All e-bikes will also be prohibited unless the operator qualifies under disability laws.

Canyons Village parking garage goes paid next winter, with free options

By Connor Thomas

Parking will no longer be free at Park City Mountain’s Canyon Village garage starting next ski season.

Two floors in the five-story structure offered free parking for the 2025-2026 ski season. Starting with the 2026-2027 winter, it will cost drivers $29 to park before noon each day.

It’s not yet clear if reservations will be required.

Some limited space will be available for free carpool parking, vehicles carrying four or more people.

Surface parking on the rest of the former Cabriolet lot where the garage remains under construction will be free along with employee parking in designated areas.

A “Canyons Village Winter Season Parking Pass” will also be available, but no fee information has been released.
