What 25 Years in Real Estate Has Taught Me About Serving People

After more than 25 years in real estate, one thing has never changed for me: this business is about people first. Homes are emotional. They represent memories, milestones, financial investments, and major life transitions. That’s why I’ve always believed my role goes far beyond simply opening doors or negotiating contracts. My job is to be an advocate, strategist, and trusted guide for my clients every step of the way.

One experience that recently reminded me why I love what I do involved a seller here in South Orange County who was feeling overwhelmed and uncertain about whether it was even the right time to move. Like many homeowners, they were worried about market conditions, timing, and whether they would truly maximize the value of their home. Instead of rushing the process, we built a plan together.

We focused on preparation first. I walked them through strategic improvements, staging recommendations, pricing analysis, and how we could position their home to stand out in a competitive market. I believe details matter, and after years in this industry, I know that preparation often determines the outcome before a home even hits the market.

The result? Their home sold in just 72 hours for $70,000 over asking price.

But what meant the most to me wasn’t the number. It was the moment my client told me, “Michelle, you made us feel calm through this entire process.” That’s the part people don’t always see. Real estate is not just about transactions—it’s about trust, communication, and making sure people feel supported during major decisions.

I’ve built my business on hard work, honesty, and truly caring about the people I serve. I answer the calls, I stay involved, and I treat every transaction as if it were my own family making the move. That level of commitment matters, especially in communities like Rancho Mission Viejo where buyers and sellers deserve someone who understands both the market and the lifestyle that makes this area so special.

Whether I’m helping first-time buyers, growing families, or longtime homeowners preparing for their next chapter, I never take the responsibility lightly. After all these years, I still genuinely love what I do—and I’m grateful every day that I get to help people call this incredible community home.
