One of the most important aspects of freedom found in the United States is the freedom to worship how we choose without government intervention. There are religions of all types in this country. Some choose to worship a career or particular lifestyle they desire, while others choose to worship alongside others in a church or synagogue. No matter the focus of our worship, in this country, we are allowed to hold that faith up without persecution from the government.
Like most things in life, our focus in life will determine the outcome. I would like to propose to you a life of untouchable freedom. An untouchable freedom that can stand in the fire of government persecution and come out squeaky clean. An untouchable freedom that can walk among lions and tame them in a moment. A freedom so profound it can send the unlikeliest people into the most unlikely places to bring an untouchable freedom that not even a government can take away.
In the Bible, the Apostle Paul writes in Galations 5, “For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.” He writes this to remind people not to place leaders over them who will lead them back into submission of another who will lead them into slavery. Today we can apply this same letter from Paul to the slavery we have inherently, living under the power of sin. With Christ, we no longer have to answer the call of sin but turning to Jesus, we can find an untouchable freedom to rise above our own selves and circumstances knowing that we have an unwavering freedom found only in Christ.
I would be remiss to not include an invitation to hear more about Jesus, and a life of untouchable freedom every Sunday at 9am at Taylor Road Baptist Church. I’ll see you then.
