Summertime in the gym is my favorite time of the year. The garage doors are open, warm air is rolling in, weights are clanging, and the music is banging. The energy in the room is infectious, it’s almost impossible to not leave in a better mood than when you walked in.
Working out in a group isn’t for everyone, and working out alone isn’t either. We’re just not built for isolation. We’re wired for connection.
Over the years I’ve heard so many athletes say they “workout at home.” My first thought is always, “Oh yeah? How’s that going?” It takes way more discipline to get off the sofa & walk down the stairs to hop on the treadmill than it does to get in the car and drive to SISU.
The big difference is accountability. When you’re training with other people, you get that quiet challenge from seeing everyone else pushing through the tough parts. You’re way less likely to stop mid-workout when the people around you are grinding too. It pushes you to perform better and try harder. Giving you a higher ROT! Return on time.

But the real magic is the human-to-human connection. We all crave it. At SISU we’ve built a community like no other. Ninety percent of people who walk in for the first time are surprised, no fancy machines, no mirrors, no TVs playing the news, just people, barbells, dumbbells, and kettlebells. Everyone is showing up and striving for longevity.
Lake days, family time, and those long summer nights don’t just happen. They take strength. The kind of strength that lets you chase the kids around the dock, load the boat, stay energetic all day, and actually be there for your family and friends.
Longevity isn’t just about living longer. It’s about having the strength to live more fully, enjoying the summer memories, the community gatherings, the moments that matter. This summer, don’t just survive it. Show up strong for it. Train with people who make you better. Build the kind of resilience that lets you be the solid one in your crew all season long.
SISU exists to forge resilient humans both mentally and physically.
