Why the Best Facial Rejuvenation Treatments Work at Different Levels

We have been thrilled by the overwhelming response to XERF™ from The Good Life community, and even more excited to hear how pleased readers have been with their lifting and tightening results. As patients begin seeing those changes, the next question is often, “What should I do to maintain and enhance my XERF results?” The honest answer is that no single treatment addresses every aspect of facial aging. The face changes at multiple levels, from the quality of the skin we see in the mirror to the deeper connective structures that support it. The most natural and complete results often come from strategically treating more than one layer.

Start With the Structure

XERF™ uses multi-frequency radiofrequency energy to deliver controlled heat beneath the skin. This stimulates collagen remodeling and helps tighten the deeper connective tissues that support the face and neck. Rather than adding volume or changing your facial features, XERF is designed to improve the underlying framework. It can help address early jowling, softening of the jawline, and the gradual loss of definition that occurs as facial support structures loosen with age. Patients appreciate that the treatment is comfortable, requires no needles or numbing, and involves essentially no downtime. However, while XERF helps restore deeper support, it does not directly correct every concern visible on the skin’s surface. That is where regenerative skin treatments become especially valuable.

Renew the Surface

A Vampire Facial®® combines medical microneedling with platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, prepared from a small sample of the patient’s own blood. Microneedling creates thousands of controlled microchannels in the skin, initiating a natural repair response. PRP contains concentrated platelets and growth factors that support cellular signaling and tissue renewal during that process. Together, these treatments are used to improve the appearance of fine lines, uneven texture, enlarged pores, acne scarring, and dull or crepey skin. A carefully selected regenerative serum, including an exosome-based serum when appropriate, may also be incorporated into the treatment plan. Think of the combination this way: XERF helps reinforce the deeper foundation, while the Vampire Facial® focuses on renewing the skin covering that foundation.

An Optional Skin-Refining Addition

For patients seeking an additional improvement in overall skin quality, intradermal MicroTox may be incorporated into the Vampire Facial®. Traditional Botox® is injected into specific facial muscles to soften expression lines. MicroTox uses tiny, superficially placed droplets of diluted neuromodulator within the skin rather than deeply within the muscle. This technique may help reduce the appearance of enlarged pores, excess oil production, fine surface lines, facial redness, and uneven texture. It can be particularly helpful for appropriately selected patients with rosacea-related flushing or persistent redness. MicroTox does not replace traditional Botox or deeper structural tightening. Instead, it enhances the surface-level benefits of the Vampire Facial®, helping create smoother, more refined, and more luminous-looking skin.

A More Complete Approach

The goal of modern aesthetics should not be to make everyone look different. It should be to understand exactly which layers are contributing to the changes a patient sees and select treatments accordingly. By pairing structural tightening with regenerative skin renewal, we can improve both the foundation and the finish, creating results that appear refreshed, balanced, and authentically your own.
