After 30 years of working with dogs and their people, I still love what I do! It’s rewarding to see clients return with new dogs, trusting me to help them build strong, healthy relationships from the start.
Training is about more than commands—it’s about communication, trust, and setting both dog and owner up for success. A big part of that success comes from owners being actively involved in the training process. When owners learn the skills alongside their dogs, they build a stronger bond, gain confidence, and are better equipped to guide their dogs in everyday situations. We are excited to offer a dedicated training space in Waconia, where clients have a place to begin training with their puppies and continue progressing all the way through adulthood. It’s important to have a consistent environment where dogs can learn, grow, and keep building skills over time.
I also believe training shouldn’t stop once the basics are learned. Ongoing classes give dogs and their owners the opportunity to refresh skills, stay engaged, and continue strengthening their bond. Having a place to return to for continued learning helps maintain good habits and keeps both dogs and owners confident in real-life situations throughout various levels of training:
Level 2 — Manners & Impulse Control
Level 3 — Real-Life Reliability & Fun Challenges
I also emphasize that training and health go hand in hand. Proper nutrition plays a key role in a dog’s ability to learn and thrive. Helping owners choose quality food and treats is an important part of the process, because dogs that feel good physically are more focused and responsive.
Why training matters:
– Strengthens the bond between you and your dog
– Prevents unwanted behaviors
– Creates a safer home environment
– Improves communication
– Supports overall health
– Builds confidence and structure
The new Waconia training center, PAWS Inn Training and Wellness Center, allows me to offer more than instruction. Located above Paws and Pet Essentials in downtown Waconia, it provides access to quality food, treats, and knowledgeable staff. It’s also a space to practice real-life skills, helping dogs become more confident in everyday situations. Plus we’ve incorporated a Pet Self-Wash with all of the supplies you need to keep your dog looking and feeling their best!
After all these years, I’m still passionate about helping dogs and their owners succeed. I would be honored to help introduce your pet to group training and all of the benefits it offers for whatever stage your dog is at!
