Hello Kentlands and Lakelands neighbors! I’m back with some helpful tips to clean and maintain an organized home.
I know it feels amazing when my crew and I come through and leave your home dust- and clutter-free, but I’d like to share some helpful tips on how you can keep it that way until we come back. Even when you are busy with work and everyday tasks, you can maintain a clean house and reduce stress by leaning on your own crew at home.
I personally hate returning from work to find more to clean at home. With the new school year, it seems like our kids come back from school on a mission to turn the house upside down. They eat and drink and leave a trail throughout the house—all before dinnertime!
My new favorite phrase to help minimize stress and disarray: Divide and conquer!
If you have children that are age-appropriate to pitch in, motivate them to help. Assign them chores and provide a reward in return. For example, in exchange for tidying up the playroom, they can earn a fun bonding experience with Mom or Dad, like an afternoon at the park, going on a hike, a movie night, or ice cream sundaes. The possibilities are endless.

Have them do three simple chores every day that help resolve the chaos and minimize the headache. Maybe it’s putting away the dishes, folding laundry, cleaning the windows, taking out trash, or wiping down the countertops. Break down large tasks into smaller steps, so that the work doesn’t feel overwhelming for even the littlest helpers.
Personally, I absolutely need my son to make his bed every day! Also, he is expected to remove any clothes from the floor—there are baskets for that! Additionally, I recommend tasking your kids with cleaning their bathrooms, even if they don’t do it perfectly. They learn to keep tidy and eventually, they will enjoy a cleaner environment.
Be sure to show them safe products that can be used for each task. Teach them how to use them to use cleaners and tools for different areas of the house. You do so much every day, and deserve a little help!
