Face Dentistry: A Facially Driven Approach to Cosmetic Dentistry

For decades, cosmetic dentistry has focused primarily on creating beautiful teeth. Porcelain veneers, whitening, orthodontics, and smile makeovers can dramatically improve a smile—but what if dentistry could look beyond the teeth and consider the face as a whole?

This is the concept behind Face Dentistry.

Face Dentistry is a facially driven approach to dentistry that evaluates how the teeth, bite, jaw position, lips, chin, and facial proportions work together. Instead of designing a smile in isolation, the goal is to create dental treatment that complements the entire face.

The position of the teeth and jaws can influence far more than the appearance of a smile. A deep bite, collapsed bite, narrow dental arch, worn or short teeth, or a retruded lower jaw may contribute to a shorter or more sunken facial appearance, reduced lip support, or the appearance of a recessed chin.

By carefully evaluating these relationships, we can explore whether changes to the bite, tooth position, tooth proportions, or jaw relationship may improve both dental function and facial aesthetics—often without facial surgery.

One of the most exciting aspects of Face Dentistry is the ability to visualize and test potential changes before committing to permanent treatment. Real time  facial analysis, bite evaluation, and temporary mock-ups can help patients see how changes in their smile and bite may affect their overall appearance.

The objective is not simply to create whiter or straighter teeth. It is to design a smile that belongs to the face.

In Beverly Hills, where aesthetic medicine continues to become more sophisticated and increasingly natural-looking, Face Dentistry represents a different way of thinking about cosmetic dentistry: not just changing the smile, but understanding how the smile can influence the face, jaw and chin line without doing surgery.
