Cheers to 2026 and 110 Years of Spengler-Stewart
Happy 2026! The new year always makes me excited. I feel like there are so many
adventures to be had and can start planning for them. Not sure at this point what
adventures but there will be some!
2026 marks 110 years in business for Spengler-Stewart! Guess I need to plan a
birthday party. But wow 110 years. This is thanks to our customers and our community.
We couldn’t have done this without you. Technology and life have changed so much
over the years. But our desire to be of service to our community has not changed. This
is where we live and want to be.
On a happy note, 2025 brought us no hurricanes. How wonderful is that? Reading over
different journals discovered that even with that accomplishment the first quarter of
2025 was the costliest, globally, for insurance due to Natural Disasters since records
started being kept. Can you guess why? To answer that question look to wildfires
instead of hurricanes. The California Wildfires. On another piece of trivia – the number
of people killed in US car accidents was down by 6.3% early 2025.
If you haven’t guessed by now, I like trivia questions. I’m not good at remembering a lot
of it, just find it interesting for some reason. My plan is to start throwing some trivia
questions out on Facebook every so often to see if you like trivia as well. I promise it will
not be all about insurance.
I mentioned above that we had a good year regarding Natural Disasters here in
Louisiana. I know rates are still high. We do find them to be stabilizing. I haven’t seen
30% homeowners increase in a while, about two years ago I saw this on just about
everyone I touched it felt like. Remember rates are not just about your claims. It is about
everyone’s claims, your individual credit, company’s loss ratio across the nation, your
individual claims.
