Bedding Industries of America (BIA) has taken that idea and brought it into the mattress world—giving shoppers more ways to find their own “just right” comfort. While Goldilocks only had three choices, customers today benefit from four distinct comfort feels, all offered at one price point.
The program—known nationally as “Fab Five”—is offered in a four-model version on our sales floor, giving customers a clear, simplified way to compare comfort levels without confusion or pressure.
A Smarter, Easier Way to Shop for Comfort
BIA’s approach expands beyond the usual “plush, medium, firm” categories found in most stores. Instead, the lineup adds an extra option on each end of the comfort spectrum, giving shoppers four carefully crafted feels:

No. 1 – Softest:
“Ultra-soft, cloud-like comfort that responds to your movement with a soft-yet-supportive feel.”
Best for: Side sleepers & combination sleepers
No. 2 – Medium:

Each mattress uses the same underlying construction—the “chassis”—but BIA adjusts the ILD (Indentation Load Deflection) of the foams to create the different comfort levels. That means customers feel a true difference between each model, without worrying about big jumps in price.
A Customer Experience That Just Makes Sense
On our sales floor, each mattress is paired with friendly, easy-to-read signage outlining how the beds feel, which sleep positions they best support, and what kind of sleeper may benefit from each comfort level.
To make the experience even simpler, customers are encouraged to start with the medium model, then move softer or firmer from there—much like trying on shoes, but for your night’s sleep.
