Visiting Angels of The Villages: Serving Those Who Served Us

For many Veterans in our community, navigating the process of receiving homecare support can feel overwhelming. At Visiting Angels of The Villages, our mission is to make that process clearer, easier, and more accessible so every Veteran gets the quality care they deserve.

January is an especially meaningful time to highlight the resources available to Veterans, and we are committed to offering guidance long before services even begin. Below is a clear, step-by-step look at how Veterans can access their benefits and how Visiting Angels can help provide compassionate, professional support once they do.

What Veterans Need to Do First

Becoming eligible for homecare services begins with enrollment. The sooner the process starts, the better because applications can take anywhere from 30 to 90 days to complete. Delays are the biggest enemy, so Veterans are encouraged to register as early as possible.

ENROLL FOR VA BENEFITS

Register online at www.va.gov/health-care/apply-for-health-care-form-10-10ez

Visit the Local VA Clinic

The Villages VA Clinic is located at 8900 SE 165th Mulberry Lane, The Villages, FL 32162. To schedule an appointment call 352-674-5000.

Request an evaluation for homecare services from a VA doctor. If approved, Community Care will process the authorization (typically within 14 business days) and send it directly to Visiting Angels. Once received, we promptly schedule an Initial RN Assessment which is required by the VA before services can begin.

It is important to note: the Veteran’s age or disability level does NOT affect eligibility, and all HHA & Respite visits are billed directly to the Veterans Administration, not to the Veteran.

Additional Support the VA Can Provide: What You May Not Know

  • Proper equipment for the home as needed
  • Briefs and disposable bed pads
  • Home renovations as needed to support safety and independence

Benefits We Provide to Enrolled Veterans

Once enrolled with the VA Clinic and approved for homecare services, Veterans can receive visits fully covered through the VA.

  • HHA Visits and Respite Visits
  • Assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
  • Companionship care, tailored to individual needs

Peace of Mind With Professional Caregivers

One of the most important distinctions when choosing a homecare provider is understanding who is entering your home. At Visiting Angels, our caregivers are employees, not independent contractors. That means stronger safety protections for our clients.

Our Caregivers

  • OUR employees, not independent contractors
  • Comprehensive background screening
  • Level II FBI background check
  • County, state, federal, national & international background checks
  • Fully insured, bonded, with professional liability insurance
  • Payroll taxes handled by our agency

VS. Independent Contractors

  • 1099 workers with no insurance backing them
  • Often no thorough background check
  • Registry-based meaning shifts picked up inconsistently
  • Caregivers must handle their own taxes
  • No Workers’ Comp. Clients could be held liable for injuries

Serving Those Who Served

Our Veterans have given so much and they deserve care that is safe, dignified, and dependable. Visiting Angels of The Villages is honored to support our local heroes by helping them access their rightful benefits and providing compassionate in-home assistance once services begin.

If you or a loved one is a Veteran seeking support, remember: the first step is simply applying. We’re here to help guide the way.
