Buddy & Tucker

Buddy and Tucker are perfect gentlemen during our brief meeting at Coombs Kennels. They kindly cooperate, even though it’s almost time for dinner. Having been longtime lovers and guests at Coombs, they know the lay of the land. Vanessa Kibble, owner/mom, explains to me that they both were introduced into her life almost seamlessly, Buddy being the first. “I first met Cathy Boruch from Paws for Life when she was a regular at my restaurant, Main Street Social,” says Vanessa. “She knew I loved animals, and for years she would gently encourage me to adopt a dog.” Two years went by, then Cathy popped back into the restaurant, this time with a little black ball of fluff. Buddy very quickly became the heart of their home.

Tucker’s story starts a little differently; I like to think he was handpicked by an angel who has crossed Rainbow Bridge. Vanessa mentions the loss of their dog Bruno, thinking that another pup would never fit into her life. When she had shared her thoughts with Cathy, she remembers Cathy giving her a familiar smile of understanding. Three months later, Cathy called, and she had a dog for Vanessa to meet: a shy chocolate Lab. They named him Tucker. “Nothing fazes him,” says Vanessa. “He just keeps trucking along.” Vanessa’s husband adds, “The two are the best pals. Getting to explore the world together at a dog’s pace, just how it ought to be.”
