Caring for Your Home So You Can Enjoy the Season

Imagine opening your front door barefoot and stepping outside on the first truly warm day of spring. The sun hits your skin just right. The air feels lighter. It’s the kind of day that reminds you of why you live in Nanoose.

You could spend that glorious day hauling out ladders and hoses, or you could be planning a hike, heading out for a round of golf, tending the garden, or simply enjoying the day guilt-free. When your exterior maintenance is already done, that first warm day feels even better. There’s a deep sense of relief and satisfaction in knowing your home is ready for the season ahead.

Some seasons of life allow for DIY. Other seasons call for getting help. Some homeowners tackle exterior maintenance one project at a time. Others prefer to get everything handled at once, so nothing gets missed. Either way, spring is the perfect moment to set your home up for an easy, enjoyable summer, no matter what the rain fairy throws at us.

If you’re a DIYer, here’s a practical checklist based on what we see work best here in Nanoose:

  • Clear gutters and downspouts so water flows safely away from your home. Recommended every six months to two years, depending on trees and exposure.
  • Remove winter debris from the roof, especially after storms.
  • Address moss growth, which quietly takes hold during wetter months and can shorten the life of your roof if left untreated. Recommended every one to three years.
  • Pressure wash walkways, driveways, stairs, and decks to remove slippery algae and winter buildup. Recommended as needed for safety.
  • Wash windows to fully enjoy the longer, brighter days. Recommended as needed.
  • Check often-forgotten systems, like water cisterns. Recommended annually or when needed.

If you’d rather have some or all of this handled while you do something else, we’re happy to be Top of Ladder on your behalf.

In addition to our regular services like gutter cleaning, roof demossing, pressure washing, and other top-of-ladder work, we now also provide cistern cleaning. This service was originally offered by Eco-Fresh Cisterns, and Ken has passed his expertise on to us so we can continue serving the community with the same care, skill, and heart.

Our goal is simple: to make things easier for you. We provide thoughtful checkups, quality workmanship, and responsive service so you can feel confident that nothing important has been overlooked and that the job has been done with care.

Wondering if your project is a good fit? Get in touch for a friendly chat. If we’re not the right company for the job, we’re always happy to recommend another local, trustworthy professional.

Spring is almost here. As the layers come off and life moves outdoors again, let’s go enjoy it.
