Relationships drive what we do at Today’s Dentistry

I’m so excited to be a part of Ashland Living Magazine! Ashland Living is truly for Ashlanders, by
Ashlanders, in Ashland!

Relationships drive what we do at Today’s Dentistry. Our mission statement is: We believe that
everything we do helps improve people’s lives. Simple, predictable, and long-lasting, treatment
options save our patient’s time and investment. We are a relationship driven practice that seeks to
build connections based on understanding and trust.

This is the main reason we have an in-office membership plan that saves our patients time and money.
We realize that because so many dental “insurance” companies have high costs and low benefits there
needs to be a change! Many times, we find that patients are limited by their dental benefits plans aka
dental insurance. We hear, “Does my insurance cover that?” Well, it’s not really insurance, and it
doesn’t really benefit many people. These plans often have limitations, waiting periods, and specifics
that hinder YOUR care. We believe that YOUR health and treatment should be between you and your
provider, nothing stopping the best care possible. We knew early on relationship driven care is at the
heart of the Ashland Community. We truly seek to know our patients, and they know they can rely on
us to give excellent treatment.

The opposite of relationship driven care is transactional treatment. You come in, it costs this much, and
you’re done, on to the next patient. Very factory like, less emotion, less caring, less interaction. While
some corporate run offices exist with this mentality, luckily Ashland has yet to see these types of offices
take root as they have in Medford.

I will say that most of the dentists in Ashland have a very similar mindset. Whoever your dentist is, stay
current on your visits and take to heart the education and treatment they recommend. Remember that
if expense is keeping you from taking the first step in your dental treatment, the most expensive
treatment is always the treatment that gets delayed. Despite what you may see on social media,
there’s no magic cure for decay. Only a dental restoration, skillfully placed by your local dentist, can
remove diseased areas and restore optimum oral health.

Forgive the alliteration, but dentists are in the business of preservation, restoration, and renovation of
teeth. We love healthy patients, and we love helping patients get healthy. Each patient gets an exam,
one on one, with the doctor BEFORE getting a cleaning. This first visit is an information gathering
opportunity. We take time to diagnose any disease conditions we see in teeth, gums, and the
surrounding tissue. Since the bone and gums hold teeth in place, when they are diseased, gum infection
therapy is usually recommended first. After the gums are addressed, we can appropriately assess how
best to restore any areas that have existing decay. Sometimes after years of wear, it’s appropriate to
design a beautiful new smile with strong, long-lasting crowns and veneers to brighten and bring a
fabulous youthful look back to the patient.

Whether you need to keep your smile healthy or are interested in some of the beautiful smile designs
we have completed, we’d be happy to see you. We are always accepting new patients!
