So Many Options When Traveling

As a Travel Concierge, clients often ask for my recommendations—where to go, how to get there, what to do, and how to make the most of their trip.

While booking online may seem simple, be cautious of sites that only handle the reservation. If you need rentals, transportation, excursions, adjustments, or have questions, you are often left on your own. This is one of the many reasons working with the right travel advisor matters. Not only should they be available to help with every detail, but many advisors can also add extra perks to your vacation, such as complimentary meals, resort or cruise credits, and free room upgrades. As a travel concierge, I provide clients with a digital itinerary so everything they need is right on their phone.

Here are some helpful tips when planning your next trip:

Pick your dates. If your schedule is flexible, start by checking flight prices. Airfare can vary dramatically from day to day, and mid‑week flights are often the most affordable.

Know the typical weather for your travel dates. For example, Costa Rica’s dry season aligns with our winter, while the rainy season falls during our summer. Florida in February can be unpredictable, so you may not get the warm escape you are hoping for.

Consider your travel priorities.

  • Want to explore nature? Try Belize or Alaska.
  • Dreaming of a beach? Look into Hawaii or the Caribbean.
  • Need activities for both adults and kids, plus childcare? A Disney Cruise might be perfect.
  • Interested in history? A European vacation could be the best fit.

If cruising, arrive the day before your ship departs. Flights can be delayed or canceled, and you do not want to risk missing the ship. A passport is also highly recommended—it speeds up embarkation and disembarkation and is essential in case of an emergency in a foreign country.

Learn what your hotel offers. Some properties have kids’ programs, others feature Michelin‑recommended restaurants, and some offer lazy rivers or poolside service. Other hotels are in the center of the action. Think about what matters most to you.

Know the entry requirements for your destination. For example, the Dominican Republic requires an e‑Ticket to be completed at least 24 hours before arrival.

Download the appropriate app. Most amusement parks and cruise lines have a specific app. You want to download the app to help familiarize yourself with the cruise ship or park(s).

Purchase travel insurance. Emergencies happen, and vacations are an investment. Protect your trip and your peace of mind.

Enjoy the process. A vacation is a wonderful way to step away from the everyday and create lifelong memories. The planning process should be exciting!
