Becoming the Blueprint: The Navesink Difference

Back to Articles

Before phones start ringing or trucks roll out, there is breakfast on the conference table, someone getting called out for needing a haircut, and someone else being handed a coffee they didn’t ask for but clearly needed. Seasonal decorations line office doors, the next holiday’s themed work shirts are doled out, and conversations flow between shop talk and friendly harassment. It is loud, it is busy, and more than anything, it feels like a place people want to be a part of… because it is.

This environment did not happen by accident. It is a direct reflection of owner Michael Nastasi, who built Navesink Plumbing from the ground up in the same community where he was born, raised, and still lives. What started with his cell phone, a Mead composition notebook, and a willingness to figure things out has grown into something far more substantial, but at its core, it has never changed.

Mike has never stepped back to watch his business grow. He is involved every day, at every level. He sets the rhythm in morning meetings, checks in with the office between job sites, works alongside crews, and meets with customers to assess jobs in person. Mike has never been interested in following a blueprint; his intention has always been to become the blueprint. By design, the business cannot outgrow him. It runs through him.

The goal was never to run just another service company. It was to build something lasting, something to be proud of, something that contributed to the community instead of simply operating within it. Today, that vision is hard to miss. A once overgrown corner of Route 36 and Avenue D has become a hub of activity, anchored by a prominent blue and white sign, a fleet of trucks, and beautifully renovated buildings that reflect attention to detail, pride in ownership, and commitment to community.

For the employees of Navesink Plumbing, loyalty and work ethic are rewarded, and matched with opportunity. People are given the chance to prove themselves. When they do, they are trusted with responsibility and given the resources to grow. The result is a team of individuals who take pride in the details, support one another, respect and appreciate their boss, and hold themselves to his standard.

That standard is evident in every aspect of the business. From the initial call to the final walkthrough, the focus is on clear communication, quality workmanship, and doing things the right way. Cutting corners is not an option, and small details matter. Donning protective booties before stepping into a home, maintaining an engaging social media presence, making sure every workspace is left exactly as it was found. Highly skilled crews, well-stocked trucks, generous giveaways, and consistent support of local teams and community initiatives. These baseline expectations underline the philosophy on which Navesink Plumbing was built, that the business is part of a larger community. It is not just where we
work. It is where we live, where we raise our families, and where the customers we serve are also our friends and neighbors.

For Mike, his community deserves nothing less than the best. The strongest indicator of success is not volume or visibility, but whether a customer is willing to recommend our services. Every referral represents trust earned and expectations exceeded, reinforcing the mindset that there is no finish line. The goal is not to keep pace, but to continue setting the bar… then raising it higher. That is what it means to become the blueprint. That is the Navesink Difference.
