In the world of automotive maintenance, tire and alignment services play a crucial role in ensuring your car not only runs smoothly but also offers optimal performance and safety. We put together a quick guide to help you navigate the essentials:

Checking Tire Pressure: Properly inflated tires provide better traction, improve fuel efficiency, and extend tire life. I recommend checking your tire pressure monthly, or before a long trip, to ensure they’re all set correctly. You can find what your manufacturer recommends setting them to in the driver’s side door jamb (open the driver’s door and look for a white or yellow sticker on the frame).

Regular Tire Rotation: Rotating your tires every 5,000 to 7,000 miles helps distribute wear evenly, enhancing tread life and performance.

Tread Depth Inspection: Adequate tread depth is crucial for safe driving, especially in wet conditions. Use the “penny test” as a quick measure—insert a penny into the tread groove, with Lincoln’s head facing down. If you can see all of Lincoln’s head, it’s time to replace your tires!

All About Tire Alignment

Tire alignment, often referred to as wheel alignment, involves the adjustment of your vehicle’s suspension components to ensure the wheels are positioned correctly relative to the road. Proper alignment improves handling and ensures that your tires wear evenly, ultimately prolonging their lifespan.

Signs Your Vehicle Needs an Alignment:

  • Uneven or rapid tire wear
  • Steering drifting to the left or right
  • Noisy steering
  • A vibrating steering wheel

Misalignment can cause a host of issues, including uneven tire wear, a crooked steering wheel when driving straight, and your car pulling to one side. Investing in regular tire and alignment services goes much deeper than “optional maintenance:”

  • Improved fuel efficiency: Properly aligned tires reduce resistance on the road, thereby improving your vehicle’s fuel mileage.
  • Simple comfort: A well-aligned vehicle provides a smoother and more comfortable ride.
  • Extended tire lifespan: Regular tire maintenance and alignment services help extend the life of your tires, offering better value for your investment.
  • Not to mention increased safety! Proper tire care ensures better vehicle handling, reducing the risk of accidents.
