Our vision at Transform is to improve the lives of our community. It’s a lofty, pie-in-the-sky vision, but one we try to connect with every day. One of the most impactful ways we bring that vision to life is through one-on-one personal training. It allows a coach to devote 100% of their attention to programming the right exercises to support a client’s health, growth, and long-term success.
The following three stories have inspired me, and they feel just short of magical.
Justin is a nonverbal autistic adult. That doesn’t define him or hold him back from building strength and connecting with others in his own beautiful, unique way. He’s been working with Coach Chris through personal training for a few years now, and Chris has taken the time to learn his communication cues and American Sign Language alongside Justin’s support staff.
Justin jokes and laughs, reads Chris’s emphatic facial expressions, and achieves things others may not have given him the opportunity to try. Justin’s mom tells us, “Chris creates an environment where people feel welcomed, capable, included, and successful at their own pace.”
His growth goes far beyond physical strength. It’s rooted in the encouragement and inclusion he experiences every session. Chris approaches Justin with respect, patience, and the belief that he is capable. “We’ve seen improvements in things like posture, balance, coordination, patience, focus, body awareness, confidence, and overall participation in day-to-day life. He genuinely looks forward to training and carries that positive energy into the rest of his week.”
Because exercise isn’t just pumping iron. It’s learning to wait calmly in line, participate more independently, stay focused longer, and carry yourself with confidence.
Chris also amazes me with his work with Samantha. She suffered a spinal cord injury that had her in a wheelchair until January. Recently, she’s been training to rebuild her strength beyond the scope of rehabilitation. While her improvements in strength and cardiovascular health are significant, some of her biggest wins are less obvious: progress, balance, coordination, and renewed confidence.
Rebuilding strength can be exhausting, but one of her biggest milestones has been working out without being sidelined for days afterward, gaining strength without extreme tightness. Through consistent training, she’s also found improved sleep, which supports her overall health and longevity.
Then there’s Juliann. After a winter slip and fall, she tore her ACL, MCL, and meniscus root, injuries that impact nearly every aspect of daily movement. Surgery is often the next step for injuries like this, but not in Juliann’s case.
She had spent two years strength training at Tranzform through our semi-private program, and that foundation proved critical. For four months, she’s been able to recover without surgery. Her doctors and rehab team continue to call her an anomaly.
She’s currently in a wait-and-see phase, but it’s looking increasingly likely she may avoid surgery altogether. Alongside physical therapy, she’s been working with Coach Ryan twice a week to ensure her muscles not only maintain but also continue to grow stronger, supporting her recovery. That strength has enabled her to overcome the odds without wasting time or energy or undergoing an invasive procedure.
Individual attention. Focused programming. A safe environment to grow.
If you’re ready to create a little magic of your own, we’re here for you.
