Does Attorney Choice Really Matter? When Experience Matters Most

If you, a family member, or a friend are involved in an accident, it can flip your life upside down. You are faced with medical expenses, lost wages, and dealing with your injuries. Hiring a qualified personal injury attorney removes a lot of these worries and allows you to focus on what’s important: caring for your injuries and trying to get your life back to normal.

Many people assume one attorney is as good as another when it comes to handling their personal injury case.  But who you chose matters enormously – not all representation is equal, and the differences show up when cases get complicated.

Here are a few questions to consider when choosing an attorney to handle your personal injury claim:

  • Is the attorney licensed to practice in Minnesota and are they located in Minnesota?
  • Does the attorney practice different areas of law or exclusively personal injury?
  • Has the attorney handled my specific type of case before?
  • Would the attorney be willing to take my case to trial if needed?

Insurance companies know the attorneys and firms that will take these cases to trial. If your attorney has never set foot in a court room, it will directly reflect in the outcome of your case. Do your research. Make sure the attorney you hire has an exceptional trial background. Having a seasoned trial lawyer handling your personal injury case is the most important factor in hiring an attorney to handle these life-changing cases.

For the past 18 years, I’ve been practicing solely in personal injury and have represented thousands of injured victims throughout the state of Minnesota, recovering hundreds of millions of dollars for them.

I am a Board-Certified Civil Trial Specialist, an honor fewer than 2% of all attorneys in MN have. It’s a designation that requires advanced training and showing a track record of taking cases to trial, not just settling them. In October 2025, I obtained a $5.3 Million dollar verdict in Hennepin County for a man who tragically lost his leg in a bus accident.

I have been named a MN Super Lawyer for several consecutive years. Only 5% of all Minnesota litigators are named Super Lawyers.

My experience includes all aspects of personal injury litigation including car and truck collisions, motorcycle crashes, and general liability cases.  I am licensed to practice law in Minnesota, Iowa, and South Dakota.

If you have been injured in an accident, I would be more than happy to give you a free consultation.  There is no cost to you in doing so.  Call or email at 612-344-0468 or cdixon@schwebel.com.
