Never in a million years did I imagine that a part-time college job would become my life’s career. When I walked into Laser Hair Removal & Skin Clinic as a student at UNCW majoring in psychology and planning for a future in nursing, I simply hoped to gain experience while finishing school. Twenty-three years later, that same clinic is now mine.
Laser Hair Removal & Skin Clinic, located at 700 Military Cutoff Road, was founded in 1997 by longtime owner Liz Fisher Arroyo and was one of the first laser hair removal clinics in Wilmington. This past month, Liz retired, and I proudly stepped into the role of owner, continuing the clinic’s long-standing reputation for experience, professionalism and personalized care.

I began working with Liz in July 2003, just months before graduating from UNCW. As Liz’s assistant in the laser room, I learned not only the technical side of hair removal, but also the importance of building trust with every client. That experience sparked a passion that shaped the next two decades of my life.
Determined to become an expert in the field, I completed a 6-month Electrolysis & Laser Hair Removal program at the Orlando Institute in Florida, studied aesthetics at Cape Fear Community College, and later returned to school for nursing. I earned my licensed practical nurse credential in 2019 and became a registered nurse in 2021.
Today, Laser Hair Removal & Skin Clinic remains one of Wilmington’s most experienced and uniquely qualified clinics. It is the only clinic in the area where both Liz, who continues to work part-time, and I are fully licensed in hair removal services. We specialize in laser hair removal, electrolysis, permanent makeup and skincare treatments.

In the same office building, my husband, Mike Rohde, RN, runs Seaside Aesthetics. Together, we provide clients with a complete aesthetic experience. Seaside Aesthetics offers Botox and other injectable treatments, medical-grade skincare, microblading, lash lift services and additional cosmetic enhancements designed to help our clients look and feel their best. Both of us have also completed advanced training in cryotherapy, a treatment used for skin rejuvenation, body contouring, skin tightening, and reducing inflammation and discomfort.
