Since opening its doors on January 31, 2022, Trasso Jiu-Jitsu & Wrestling at 200 Rock Road has experienced tremendous growth, becoming one of New Jersey’s premier destinations for Jiu-Jitsu, Wrestling, Defensive Tactics, and Self-Defense instruction for children and adults.
After more than four years of serving the community, the academy has officially received approval from the Glen Rock Planning Board to expand into the former Petal Dust Cakery space located at 11 Rodney Street. While the new space will extend behind the current academy, members and visitors will continue entering through the existing main entrance at 200 Rock Road.
The expansion comes in response to increasing demand, with many classes regularly reaching capacity and the academy continuing to welcome new students from Glen Rock and surrounding communities. The academy currently occupies 2,500 square feet, including approximately 1,400 square feet of mat space. Upon completion of the expansion, the facility will grow to approximately 3,200 square feet, featuring 2,100 square feet of dedicated mat space, allowing Trasso Jiu-Jitsu & Wrestling to accommodate more students while enhancing the overall training experience.
Beyond its regular youth and adult programs, Trasso Jiu-Jitsu & Wrestling is committed to serving the local community through education and public safety. The academy provides defensive tactics training for law enforcement professionals and proudly partners with the Glen Rock Board of Education to present self-defense seminars for Glen Rock High School seniors, equipping students with practical skills and greater confidence as they prepare for life beyond high school.
Construction is expected to begin in August 2026, with the expanded facility anticipated to open in Fall 2026. The project marks an exciting new chapter for the academy as it continues its commitment to providing world-class instruction while fostering confidence, discipline, and a strong sense of community both on and off the mats.
