The Fall Skin Reset: Repair, Rebuild & Refresh

From refreshing your skincare routine to lasers, peels and collagen-stimulating treatments, fall is the perfect time to rethink what your skin needs.

After a summer of sunshine, heat, travel and long days outdoors, fall offers the perfect opportunity to reset your skin. Changes in season can reveal more than just a fading tan—we may begin to notice increased pigmentation, uneven texture, dehydration or simply skin that looks a little less vibrant. The good news? Fall is one of my favorite seasons for skin.

Start With Your Skincare Routine

Just as we transition our wardrobes for cooler weather, our skincare routines may need a seasonal update. Products that worked beautifully through the heat and humidity of summer may not provide enough support as temperatures drop.

Fall is a great time to reassess your cleanser, hydration and active ingredients. Depending on your skin, this may mean adding a richer moisturizer, incorporating a retinoid or refining your antioxidant routine. And while summer may be over, sunscreen isn’t—daily SPF remains one of the most important parts of any anti-aging skincare plan.

Resurface Summer Skin

Fall also marks the return of some of our favorite resurfacing treatments. Chemical peels and laser treatments can help address concerns that become particularly noticeable after summer, including sun-related discoloration, uneven tone, rough texture and dullness.

The key is customization. Not every patient needs an aggressive treatment. Sometimes a series of lighter treatments can create a beautiful improvement with minimal downtime. Combination and consistency create the best results. We age for different reasons, and we have to address them all.

Don’t Just Treat the Surface—Think deeper

One of the biggest shifts we’re seeing in aesthetic medicine is a move from simply correcting lines and wrinkles to thinking about the health and structure of the skin over time. Collagen-stimulating treatments can play an important role in that strategy. Sculptra, for example, works gradually by stimulating the body’s own collagen production, while PDO threads can be used strategically to support and rejuvenate areas of the face. Our favorite is a combo of the two. Rather than chasing every individual line, the goal is to create a thoughtful plan that supports the way the face ages as a whole.

Our Standout Treatment of the Year: “The Liquid Microneedle”

One treatment we’re particularly excited about this year is BioStim by Revision that we nickname “The Liquid Microneedle”. BioStim fits perfectly into the growing focus on skin quality and collagen support. It is a groundbreaking product that is applied topically to simulate the benefits of microneedling and a chemical peel with minimal downtime and maximum results. It is the ultimate topical biostimulator.

Your Reset Doesn’t Have to Be Dramatic

A fall skin reset doesn’t mean doing everything at once. It may be as simple as changing a few products, scheduling a peel or laser treatment, or beginning a longer-term collagen-building plan. The best place to start is by asking your skincare professional the simple question: What does my skin need now? Because the best aesthetic plan isn’t based on a trend or a season—it’s one designed specifically for you.
