Your Backyard Doesn’t Have to Go Into Hibernation

In many parts of the country, October means putting away the patio furniture, covering the grill and getting the backyard ready for winter. Here in Southern Arizona, October means something completely different.

We finally get our backyard back.

The triple-digit days begin to disappear, evenings cool down, and many of our winter residents start making their way back to Green Valley and Sahuarita. After months of looking at the backyard through the window from the comfort of the air conditioning, this is the time of year when outdoor living really begins.

And your backyard can be much more than just a swimming pool.

A pool may be the centerpiece, but today’s backyards are becoming true outdoor living spaces. Built-in grills and outdoor kitchens make it easy to entertain without constantly running back inside. Fountains and water features can completely change the feel of a patio, adding movement, sound and a little bit of tranquility.

And when the evenings start getting chilly, few things beat slipping into a hot tub under an Arizona night sky.

Of course, the swimming pool still needs some attention. Cooler weather generally means your pool requires less filtration and chlorine than it did during the heat of summer, but that doesn’t mean it can simply be forgotten until spring. Maintaining proper water chemistry, keeping filters clean and adjusting equipment schedules as temperatures change can save energy and prevent expensive problems later.

Fall is also a great time to tackle those backyard projects you avoided all summer. Whether it’s upgrading aging pool equipment, adding automation, replacing an old heater, installing a hot tub, creating an outdoor cooking area or simply adding a fountain to an empty corner of the patio, Arizona’s cooler months give us plenty of time to enjoy those improvements.

For our returning winter residents, this is also the perfect time to give the backyard a fresh start. Check the pool equipment, water chemistry, filters, outdoor appliances and water features, especially if the home has been sitting for part of the summer. And if something doesn’t look quite right, you don’t have to figure it out alone.

That’s where we come in. At TotalCare Pool, helping local homeowners enjoy their pools and backyards is what we do every day. We’re proud to have been voted Best Pool Service, Pool Repair and Pool Supply for the past five years, and we work hard to earn that trust with every customer we serve.

While much of the country is preparing to spend the next several months indoors, we’re entering one of the very best times of the year to be outside.

So don’t put your backyard into hibernation.

Around here, backyard season is just getting started. Give the team at TotalCare Pool a call at 520-428-POOL (7665) and let’s get your backyard ready for the best season of the year!
