What separates Dent Tires from other commercial dealers is our unique team with over 100 years of combined exceptional knowledge and experience. We pride ourselves on meeting every customer where they are in their mechanical and parts buying journey. Ensuring that we save them time, money, and energy. We take the guesswork out of the process while concentrating on protecting your investment.
Founders’ Story
In the beginning, Dent Tires was started by accident out of necessity. Enrique Dent, the founder, already had a tremendous amount of managerial, automotive, and tire knowledge, while Joslyn Dent had several decades of accounting/finance/banking, risk management, and Lean Six Sigma methodologies under her belt. As fate would have it, both were relieved of their duties within 3 months apart, but instead of toiling with their misfortune, they chose to channel that energy into creating and fulfilling a lifelong entrepreneurial dream and legacy that would materialize into the skeleton framework of The Dent Tire Company.
The company was started with $300 worth of cryptocurrency in The Dent’s home garage, delivering small amounts of commercial truck tires and passenger tires in Mrs. Dent’s Honda Pilot. Over time, that minuscule cryptocurrency investment grew into a staggering 5-figure crypto gain that the Dents realized during the bull market, creating the first real investment into a relatively newly formed company. Through sheer will, grit, and determination, they were able to grow the company into a 7-figure business with 5 locations throughout the Atlanta Metropolitan area before finally settling into one massive 20,000 square foot location in Lithia Springs, Georgia.
Mr. Dent worked for The Goodyear Tire Company for over 12 years in every role possible, ending in management as well as a tire expert. That tenure led to managing his first Midas Service Center, and working at a Honda Dealership, venturing deeper into commercial truck tires while ending his career as a Regional Manager of a National Commercial Tire Chain. That experience, coupled with Mrs. Dent’s exceptional bookkeeping, office management, organizational, and compliance skills, laid the blueprint for a successful startup, Dent Tires!
In the Dent Tires infantry, funding, distribution, and delivery of merchandise posed a serious challenge daily. The company operated on very thin margins while not having adequate purchasing power to negotiate a price point to procure inventory. As the customer base and demand grew, renting commercial box trucks for product delivery decimated any potential profits, which could fuel growth or sustainability.
There was one major defining moment in Dent Tires turbulent journey that created staggering results of the company’s existence. That defining moment was acquiring one major customer that would eventually purchase over 7-figures worth of tires in one calendar year. This customer forced us to reevaluate our processes, seek out new financial partners, and renegotiate distribution contracts. For the first time, we were able to align ourselves with a national shipping partner with deep international connections on foreign soil.
Growth & Evolution
Once Dent Tires started generating tax returns, using inventory management systems, purchasing delivery company vans, and financing our first mid-size truck, we knew then that the company had really grown in depth and scale. We started using social media early on to fuel our growth. Managing the entire content creation process on our own due to the lack of a traditional marketing budget. Our mobile delivery service has always been an intricate part of our distribution network, but during this growth phase, we utilized our international connections to convince a factory in Malaysia to manufacture a Dent Tire mold that launched the next evolution in Dent Tires journey.
There are numerous milestones in Dent Tires journey from becoming the largest minority woman owned, DBE (Disadvantaged Business Enterprise) Certified aftermarket parts and wholesale tire dealers by volume in the southeastern region of the United States, to being nominated Minority Business of the Year (2023) and Female Entrepreneur of the Year (2023-2025) by our constituents at Action Coach National Entrepreneur Conventions. We have weathered numerous storms, but none has been more endearing and compelling than navigating a new administration with new tariffs, which have decimated the entire transportation and logistics sector. Needless to say, we are still here strategizing, planning and navigating unforeseen terrestrial threats to which the likes that our industry has never seen. Our milestones come in the form of resilience, overcoming psychological adversities while keeping our sanity at such a chaotic time.
Early in Dent Tires humble beginnings, we learned that being good at what we do was not good enough. We created an expectation of excellence that still resonates today. We don’t take our customers’ trust for granted. We constantly reevaluate our early processes that were drawn on our vision board in our original home office. We have given depth to our company’s existence in the marketplace. It is no longer about buying and selling tires, but it has everything to do with market fit, positioning, sustainability, research and development, and above all, running a disruptive, clean, and profitable business that addresses our customers’ needs while impacting our industry on a domestic and international scale.
A lesson learned is only as good as the intended receiver’s willingness to digest the experience and information. We have relinquished the absurd notion that we didn’t need to be a part of the tumultuous transportation and logistical network. The environment tends to be very toxic at times, filled with numerous bad actors and unscrupulous business practices. We thought that we could operate independently of such industry restraints, but we quickly realized that it is a small world and we are all connected in business in some form or shape. It is for this reason Dent Tires has created a set of unwavering standards and operating procedures that we abide by daily. It is better to be a non-traditional outlier than a willing participant in industry debauchery.
Move to Douglasville
If you believe in a higher power, then I would have to say God. We were drawn to Douglasville after searching for 2 consecutive years by a gravitational pull.
Our commercial realtor, David Dixon, listened to our wants, needs, and dreams. He understood our desires. We set a goal, and the way that David disseminated our information to potential landlords, he circled back to us and said, “I have the perfect place.” When we walked through the doors of our current location, it felt like home. We connected immediately with the air, the location, the sounds, and the ambiance. Douglasville was always a mystery to us on the other side of town, but it is an untapped market full of possibilities that we’re looking forward to exploring.
Dent Tires move into this 20,000 square foot facility has given us that ‘wow’ factor. We are operating at scale with no signs of slowing down. Multiple new vendors have shared that we are in the perfect location, so they have extended favorable terms and deals to help accentuate our growth. Our mission is to no longer just keep the lights on; we want to create a destination location filled with generational memories. Some companies desire to just be a profitable business, but we want to become a staple in the region that is interwoven with the history of Douglasville and the future of Atlanta.
If we had to say what stood out the most about Douglassville, we would have to say its greenery. Mrs. Dent is from Chicago, Illinois, and Mr. Dent is from Macon, Georgia, and trees are a very big deal to us. As we drive from the east side of town every day, the greenery on the horizon as we approach Douglasville is simply breathtaking. Enjoying the Autumn season as the leaves fall, green pastures that stretch for miles, what is there not to love about such a clean and surreal environment.
We signed a six-year lease at this current location, solidifying our company’s future as our home base. We plan to open numerous locations around the Atlanta Metropolitan area, and southeast, but Douglasville will be home. All roads lead back to this destination. When we speak of expansion, we are close to numerous cities, as well as Alabama, giving us the opportunity to spread our brand and grow our customer base. We see growth in all directions.
Community Integration
Community is very important to us as a company, but more important as a family. Recently, we joined the Douglas County Chamber of Commerce to support our community and other business owners. We realize that we are stronger together so we embrace that connection. Supporting one another is paramount when establishing a new relationship in a new area. Mrs. Dent and I both come from large families, so if we can absorb the energy of the Douglas County Community, we are here for all of it.
Since we have only been in our location for six months, the process has been somewhat slow in adoption. As I alluded to before, we recently joined the Douglas County Chamber of Commerce to get more visibility in the community. We have been meeting with the local fire chief, code enforcement, and the department of sanitation and waste management. We have made it a priority to let everyone know that we are willing to network, so please invite us out to any events so we can digest the best that Douglasville has to offer.
If we had our way, we would love to acquire a government contract with every single governmental entity in the county. Every department, from the Department of Sanitation to the Sheriff’s Departments, has a fleet and needs professional servicing. We also would like to immerse ourselves in the Douglas County Political future of expansion of the highways and byways. Organizations like DGDOT can benefit from a mutual partnership in cost savings as well as time versus money situations.
There seems to be a very bad misconception that Dent Tires only sells tires. We are a multifaceted conglomerate of multiple departments. We have Dent Parts, Dent Services, Dent Golf Carts, and Dent Forklifts. The goal is to create a mechanical and service destination that satisfies most conventional and entrepreneurial customers’ needs. By becoming a trusted source for information, we hope to earn your business while integrating into Douglasville’s evolving culture. One of Dent Tires claim to fame is locating hard-to-find specific tires or parts. We know that your time is valuable, so we utilize our vast network to expedite the process and get you back rolling.
Brand Values & Culture
Dent Tires core values center around respect. Respect for people, their time, their safety, their property, our staff, and our facility. Dent Tires has specific guiding principles and ethics that shape our narrative and moral compass. We are, in essence, good people doing good business. We would like to be considered the type of facility that you would refer your mother, daughter or wife to because of our proven track record of highly skilled professionals and our family environment. Tires Are What We Do, but Good People Are Who We Are.
When you choose to do business with Dent Tires, you have chosen a friend in business. You can be assured that we will give you complete transparency, honest and professional service in a timely manner, free from guilt or deception, because our reputation and integrity are on the line. A lot of our vendors say we make it easy to do business with Dent Tires.
They praise us for our professionalism while offering a friendly firm handshake to seal the deal. We are who we say we are, and we are only getting better with time.
When a customer walks through our doors, we want them to feel at home. Grab a coffee in the kitchen, then give us their keys, and we can take it from there. Whether you need a single part, tire, or service, you can rest assured that you will get the highest level of service possible. We pride ourselves on our professionalism, giving our customers the utmost courtesy and respect. If your experience is nothing short of amazing, then we haven’t done our job right to earn your continued business and trust. Exceptional is our standard, and professional is our motto.
Integrity in business means to act with honesty and a solid moral compass. Customers should never feel uncomfortable or manipulated into a purchase or service. There are numerous bad actors in this space, but Dent Tires is definitely not a part of that system.
Products & Services
Customers should know that we take extreme pride in the work that we perform. We believe that our reputation is at stake every time a customer steps through our doors. We try to be as efficient as possible while delivering top-notch service. Our trained staff has been vetted with the proper credentials to ensure that we protect your investment and exceed expectations.
There are different categories of drivers and buyers. Tires are separated into tiers. For example, Tier 1 consists of familiar brands: Michelin, Goodyear, Bridgestone, Firestone, and Continental, which are usually used by most fleets or governmental agencies because of their price point. Tier 2 tires typically consist of Falken, Toyo, Kumho, Sumitomo, or Uniroyal, which are American-made tires, but they are considered in the middle of the road based on price point with most of the benefits of the Tier 1 technology. Finally, we have Tier 3 tires, which consist of tires from China, Vietnam, India, Thailand, Cambodia, and Malaysia. These tires tend to be more economical and suited to the general public in this economic environment. Our job is to meet every customer or agency where they are financially and give the best possible product and solution at our disposal at that time.
So far, Dent Tires has received very positive feedback. Many customers love our model and are elated that we have chosen Douglasville as our new home.
Apparently, a lot of our long-term customers like the fact that we have scaled our business and now offer even more diverse services. Our capacity has grown so we can facilitate any demand, great or small, in a timely and efficient manner. Most would say that they would expect nothing less from us.
Currently, we have a few sample golf carts and electric forklifts in our warehouse, so we are considering expanding our product offering in that direction. As we stated earlier, Dent Tires is becoming a one-stop shop for all your mechanical, tire, and commercial needs. These sectors alone can spawn into completely new departments of their own, generating substantial returns and introducing Dent Tires to an entirely new demographic of clientele.
Vision & Future Goals
In the next 3 to 5 years, we see Dent Tires expanding into the next chapter of its evolution. We plan to diversify our staff, expand our office personnel, and open several more satellite stores throughout the Metro area. Today’s customers need convenience and options, so we have to bring our business to them while replicating and improving what we have and are working.
One key instrument in our future growth is aligning ourselves with a new financial partner. Every business needs capital to fuel its growth, and Dent Tires is no exception. As we immerse ourselves in the city’s growing infrastructure, it’s going to take time while building relationships and calculated alliance partners in the Douglas County Community.
We hope to have a positive impact on the citizens of Douglasville as well as on all city agencies. Our primary goal is to be an asset to the area while providing vital resources to all new or existing customers and agencies.
Personal Reflection
As a couple, the Dents have been married for 17 years and together for 19 years. This company bears their name and is held together by its DNA. They’ve touched every tire, managed every customer relationship (face-to-face), and signed every check. This company has given them their financial freedom while changing their teenage son’s literary trajectory and future. Working side by side as a team has not only strengthened their inseparable bond, but it has also challenged them to dream even bigger than ever as it relates to impact and legacy.
Don’t chase money, chase purpose. Find something that gratifies you every day and turn it into a business. If you stay healthy and diligent, over time,e you will become successful as long as you stay teachable, trainable, and coachable.
One surprising fact about Dent Tires that most people don’t know is that we didn’t like the company name at first. We truly thought that it was the dumbest name we could have come up with. Hindsight 20/20, it was the best life decision we could have ever made.
