Recently, a man in his 40s called our office after being diagnosed at another practice with a basal cell skin cancer. He received the news from an assistant, was told it would need surgery, and was scheduled months out without the opportunity to speak with his physician about the diagnosis or his options. His insurance was about to change, which would significantly increase his out-of-pocket costs, but he was told there were no earlier appointments available.
His father, a member of our practice, asked if I would speak with him. When he called, our team answered directly and knew his situation. We reviewed his results together, and I was able to explain the difference between basal cell carcinoma and more dangerous skin cancers like melanoma, as well as discuss treatment options that fit his active life. After speaking, he decided to join our practice, and we were able to schedule his treatment and perform another full skin exam before his insurance changed. With an unrushed appointment, we found two additional skin cancers, including one on his face, that were not noted in his previous provider’s visit. Because they were small and detected early, they can now be treated with less scarring and impact.
This story reflects something we hear often: not frustration with a provider, but a desire for something more. More time. More access. More confidence that nothing was overlooked. As medicine has grown busier, those things have become harder to find. At Martin Dermatology, we’ve built the practice around them.
Our annual membership ($375 every 6 months or $750 once per year) allows us to offer what many people say they miss in modern medicine: thoughtful communication with a team who knows you, unrushed visits with a physician, and easy access when concerns arise. It allows us to focus on relationships and excellent care, not volume and speed.
If this approach sounds right for you, we invite you to learn more at www.MartinDermatology.com or by calling (804) 917-3376.
Exceptional care begins with a team that prioritizes your experience. We would be honored to be part of yours.
