Summer heat brings its own plumbing challenges, from increased water usage to strain on outdoor fixtures.

Here’s how to keep things flowing without issues.

  • First, monitor your water bill for spikes, which could indicate hidden leaks.
  • Check under sinks and around toilets for drips, and dye-test your toilet tank to detect silent flushes.
  • Outdoors, inspect hoses and irrigation systems for wear—replace washers and use timers to avoid overwatering.
  • High temperatures can expand pipes, so ensure proper ventilation around water heaters and avoid overloading garbage disposals with summer produce scraps.
  • For pools or hot tubs, maintain chemical balances to prevent corrosion in plumbing lines.
  • If you’re heading on vacation, shut off the main water valve to prevent floods from unexpected bursts. Consider installing smart leak detectors for added peace of mind.

By staying vigilant, you’ll enjoy a hassle-free summer, conserving water and extending the life of your plumbing infrastructure.
