Care is provided wherever patients call home, whether that is a private residence, an assisted living community, a nursing home, or one of the organization’s three Hospice Houses.
Many people mistakenly believe hospice care is only for the final days of life. In reality, hospice is available to individuals with a life-limiting illness who may have a prognosis of six months or less and have chosen to focus on comfort rather than curative treatment. Receiving hospice services earlier often allows patients and families to benefit from a broader range of support, symptom management, and guidance throughout the journey.
In addition to hospice care, Hospice of Marion County offers specialized programs that support patients and caregivers in meaningful ways. These include palliative and supportive care, advance care planning, grief counseling, dementia education, veteran services, and the Transitions program for individuals who may not yet be ready for hospice but could benefit from additional support.
