I’ve always believed September feels more like the beginning of a new year than January.
Here in Montrose, the pace of summer begins to slow. Children head back to school, Friday night football returns, and those crisp Colorado mornings remind us that another beautiful season has arrived. Somehow, this time of year invites us to pause, take a deep breath, and ask ourselves, What’s next?
For some, “what’s next” means becoming an empty nester. For others, it’s a new career, retirement, welcoming a new baby or grandbaby, or simply deciding it’s finally time to put yourself back on your own priority list. Whatever season you’re walking into, I’ve learned that every chapter of life has something to teach us about who we are, and who we’re becoming.
Almost every week, someone walks into Luxe Designs Boutique and says, “I don’t even know what my style is anymore.”
It rarely has anything to do with clothes.
Life changes us. Our careers evolve. Our bodies change. Children grow up. We experience joy, loss, unexpected detours, and beautiful new beginnings. Somewhere along the way, many of us stop dressing in a way that reflects who we are today. We simply get dressed.
That’s why I believe fashion isn’t about chasing trends or filling a closet. It’s about creating a wardrobe that supports the life you’re living today and helps you feel confident showing up as yourself. Whether you’re heading to the office, traveling, cheering under the Friday night lights, meeting friends for coffee, enjoying retirement, or spending time with the people you love, what you wear should reflect your lifestyle and remind you of who you are.
One of my favorite moments happens when someone tries on an outfit and says, “But where would I wear this in Montrose?” My answer is always the same:
Wherever you want.
Life is too short to save your favorite outfit for someday.
One of the greatest joys of owning Luxe is watching women and men rediscover their confidence. Not because they bought something new, but because they caught a glimpse of themselves again. Sometimes the right outfit doesn’t change who you are, it simply reminds you of the confident, capable person you’ve been all along.
Confidence has no age, no size, and no number.
I know that personally. I opened Luxe Designs Boutique at 59 years old because I believed our community deserved more than another clothing store. I wanted to create a place where people could walk through the door exactly as they are, feel welcomed and encouraged, and leave believing in themselves just a little more than when they arrived.
Since moving into our beautiful new downtown location, we’ve been able to thoughtfully expand our collections, including our largest men’s selection yet. Every piece is carefully chosen with one purpose: helping you look your best so you can feel your best in everyday life.
One of the things I love most about Montrose is that we’re still the kind of community where people truly care about one another. Every time you choose to shop locally, you’re supporting families, investing in dreams, and helping preserve the heart of our downtown for generations to come.
As another Colorado fall begins, I hope you’ll embrace whatever this new season brings. Give yourself permission to begin again. Celebrate who you’ve become instead of comparing yourself to who you used to be. This season isn’t about becoming someone else, it’s about rediscovering the very best version of you.
And please, don’t wait for a special occasion to wear the outfit that makes you feel amazing.
Life isn’t waiting.
So neither should you.
Wear the outfit.
