Dear Neighbors and Community Members,

Our community is taking an important step forward in compassionate dementia care.

Pacific Angels Home Care is proud to offer an immersive Virtual Dementia Training Experience, designed to help participants gain a deeper understanding of some of the challenges that may be experienced by individuals living with dementia.

Dementia is far more than memory loss. It can affect how a person processes their surroundings, communicates, moves through their environment, and responds to everyday situations.

To better support those living with cognitive decline, we must learn to look beyond the behavior and ask:

“What might this person be experiencing right now?”

Stepping Into Their World

Through a guided, immersive experience, participants are temporarily challenged in ways that can help build awareness of how sensory, cognitive and physical changes may affect everyday life.

Altered Vision: Participants experience changes in visual perception and awareness, offering insight into how familiar surroundings and everyday activities may become more difficult to navigate.

Sensory and Audio Challenges: Participants experience changes in the way environmental information is received and processed, helping demonstrate how everyday surroundings can sometimes become distracting, confusing or overwhelming.

Physical and Tactile Challenges: Participants experience limitations that can affect movement, sensation and dexterity, offering a greater appreciation for the concentration and effort that seemingly simple activities may require.

Why This Matters

When we change the way we understand dementia, we can change the way we respond to it.

What may appear to be resistance, agitation, repetition or challenging behavior may actually be a response to fear, confusion, overstimulation, frustration or an environment that no longer makes sense.

The goal of this training is not simply to teach people about dementia. It is to build empathy, patience, awareness and practical understanding that participants can carry into their everyday interactions.

Participants can gain a greater understanding of compassionate communication, environmental awareness and approaches that support dignity, independence and quality of life.

An Invitation to Our Community

Pacific Angels Home Care invites family and professional caregivers, first responders, firefighters, law enforcement officers, healthcare and senior-living professionals, advocates, and community members to participate.

You do not need to be a professional caregiver to make a difference.

Dementia touches entire families and communities. The more we understand, the better prepared we become to respond with patience rather than frustration, reassurance rather than correction, and compassion rather than judgment.

Together, we can create a community where people living with dementia feel safer, understood, respected and valued.

Warmly,

Pacific Angels Home Care

Compassion. Understanding. Dignity.
