The Gift that Gives Twice

There is something extraordinary about giving a gift that has a story.

Perhaps it is a painting inspired by a favorite place, a handcrafted treasure made with care, or a piece of art that feels as though it was created with someone special in mind. The most meaningful gifts are often those that make us feel seen, understood and connected to the people we love.

At Mimi’s Original Art in Ormond Beach, we believe that the joy of giving extends far beyond the moment a gift is unwrapped. Every original work represents an artist’s imagination, time and talent. And when someone chooses to bring that work into their home, they become part of its story.

A Gift that Supports a Dream

Behind every piece of art is a person who dared to create something of their own. As a gallery representing nearly 40 local artists, we have the privilege of sharing those stories with our community.

One of those artists is Craig Michel—a skilled mechanic and autobody specialist by trade for our sister company, SR Perrott-he also found within himself the ability to create beautiful acrylic artwork and handmade furniture. In remission from cancer, he found peace during his treatments in creating something beautiful—whether it be reworking one of the SR Perrott cars or a fabulous lamp made from vintage cigar boxes, an oceanic styled coffee table or creative glassware-he really has a creative spark. I am blessed to have several of his items in my home. It brings a smile to my face every time I enjoy them.

In a season when it is easy to get caught up in shopping lists and holiday preparations, choosing something original invites us to slow down. It encourages us to think about the person receiving the gift and the story that we want that gift to tell.

Giving Back, Together

The spirit of generosity is woven into the heart of Mimi’s Original Art. We believe a gallery can be more than a place to discover beautiful things. It can be a gathering place where people connect, support meaningful causes, and find ways to make a difference. Through community partnerships and charitable events, we have the opportunity to share the joy of art while supporting organizations that make a difference in the lives of others. Mimi’s has had the distinct privilege for hosting fundraising events for the Halifax Humane Society, the Pregnancy Crisis Center, The American Cancer Society amongst others and have donated thousands to help support these amazing folks and their noble mission. Two such ways to support are by purchasing greeting cards at the gallery (the proceeds are all dedicated to a different local non-profit) and purchasing our Wines With A Cause collection of boutique wines at your local retailer.

The Beauty of Giving with Heart

As we enter the holiday season, I am reminded that the greatest gift that we can offer is often the feeling that someone matters. A painting that brings joy to a room, a handmade treasure that becomes a family keepsake, or a purchase that helps an artist pursue a dream can all carry that sentiment.

At Mimi’s Original Art, we are grateful for the artists that share their talents, the customers who welcome their work into their lioves, and the community that continues to support our vision.

This November, we invite you to discover the joy of giving a gift with meaning. Come explore, meet the artists and find something that speaks to you. When we give with intention, the gift reaches further than we may ever know. It brings beauty to one person, opportunity to another, and a little more connection to the community we all call home.

And that is the beauty of a gift that gives twice.

Mimi’s Original art is located at 1385 N US HWY 1 in Ormond Beach. Open Tuesday-Saturday from 11-6pm. www.mimisartstore.com. (386) 481-9600
