In July 2016, 49th State Brewing opened the doors of its Downtown Anchorage Pub with a simple but ambitious mission: Share Alaska with the World. Ten years later, that mission continues to shape the beer we brew, the food we serve, and the experiences we create for Alaskans and visitors from around the world.

The story of our Anchorage home, however, began long before 49th State Brewing arrived.

Located at 717 W. 3rd Avenue, the building dates back to 1917, when it was originally constructed as an Elks Lodge. Over the decades, it became a gathering place for the Anchorage community, featuring dining and social spaces. In 1996, the property entered a new chapter when Snow Goose Restaurant and Sleeping Lady Brewing Company transformed it into a brewery and restaurant.

49th State Brewing acquired the property at the end of 2015 and officially opened the Downtown Anchorage Pub on July 4, 2016.

Today, this iconic building continues its long tradition of bringing people together. With multiple dining spaces, private event rooms, a theater, gift shop, and rooftop, 49th State Brewing offers guests a unique place to gather, celebrate, and experience the spirit of Alaska.

Over the past decade, countless guests have walked through our doors, from longtime Alaskans celebrating milestones with family and friends to travelers discovering the state for the very first time. Each visit has become part of our story, and that story continues well beyond Downtown Anchorage.

From our original home in Denali, to our newest pub at The Rail, and our presence at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, 49th State Brewing continues to create places where locals and visitors can experience a taste of Alaska.

What began with a love for crafting great beer has evolved into an opportunity to share Alaska through an expanding family of beverages. Today, at Alaska Pacific Beverage Company (APBC), we produce our beers, sodas, sparkling waters, ciders, and seltzers. Each creation gives us another way to celebrate the flavors, creativity, people, and adventurous spirit that make Alaska unlike anywhere else.

As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of 49th State Brewing in Anchorage, we are especially grateful to the employees, guests, partners, and community members who have been part of this journey. A building with more than a century of history has given us a place to create a decade of stories of our own, and we know there are many more ahead.

Ten years later, our purpose remains the same: Brew great beer. Create memorable experiences. Bring people together. And Share Alaska with the World.
