Q: What is the most popular window treatment for blocking out cold weather and giving us complete privacy?

Cellular shades, also called honeycomb shades, are our go-to recommendation and #1 application for Minnesota winters. Their insulating pockets trap air and help reduce heat loss through windows. You can also use blackout shades which are perfect for bedrooms. They also layer wonderfully with drapery panels!

Q: What smart technology or automation would you recommend to make life easier?

Motorized shades are a great place to start, especially for tall windows, bedrooms, or rooms with several shades. A remote makes everyday operation simple, while a smart-home system adds app control, voice commands, and automated schedules. Imagine your shades opening in the morning and closing for privacy each evening.

Q: Are there any favorite colors, textures, or pattern trends you’re seeing right now?

Warm neutrals and natural textures are the trend right now, really along the lines of creamy whites, soft taupes, woven woods, and linen-inspired fabrics. We always recommend neutral fabrics and colors in case your design needs change down the road. Tailored Roman shades and drapery layered over shades add softness and dimension. For pattern, we love subtle stripes and understated designs that bring personality without overwhelming the room.

Q: How long does an in-home consultation take, and what can we expect during the visit?

Plan on approximately 60–90 minutes. We’ll discuss your style, budget, privacy needs, and light-control preferences, then walk through suitable options. We bring samples so you can see colors and textures alongside your furnishings and in your home’s natural light. We also measure your windows and review pricing, installation, and next steps.

Q: Beyond the consultation, is there a way for us to see actual installed blinds before making a decision?

Absolutely! You can visit our showroom in Rogers (14165 James Road, Suite 119) to explore installed window treatment displays and experience how different products look and operate. You can also visit Budget Blinds of Southern Twin Cities located in Shakopee. Let us know which products interest you so we can help you make the most of your visit.
