Child and Teen Therapy Services Are Growing at Creating Space Therapy

We know families in our community have been carrying so much in recent years. Children are feeling big emotions at younger ages, and many parents are noticing changes they cannot quite name. When a child begins to withdraw, worry more, struggle at school, or react with overwhelming emotions, it can leave any parent unsure of how to help. These moments do not mean something is wrong with your child. They simply mean your child needs support that honors their developmental stage and strengthens their sense of safety.

At Creating Space Therapy, we have long supported teens through the complex experiences of grief, trauma, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm. As we ring in the new year, we are excited to share that we are expanding our care to younger children with the addition of our new child and teen therapist, Emma Rooney. Emma brings specialized training in child-centered play therapy, somatic and regulation-based strategies, expressive arts, and trauma-informed care. These approaches allow even very young children to express what they are feeling in ways that are natural and comfortable for them.

For children ages 5 to 12, Emma blends play, creativity, and co-regulation-based support to help them make sense of feelings they cannot yet put into words. For teens, she offers expressive arts and somatic awareness practices that help them explore grief, trauma, identity, and the pressures of growing up. Across ages, Emma partners closely with parents because healing unfolds best when the whole support system is moving together.

Our expanded Child and Teen Therapy Program is built around one simple truth. Children want to feel safe, seen, and understood. Teens want to feel grounded and supported as they navigate big emotions. Parents want to know they are not alone and that their child can heal.

If you have been wondering whether it might be time for extra support, we are here to help. Give us a call today at 630-601-3460 to schedule a free consultation call with Emma.
