Navigating College Financial Aid: A Clear Path at Thomas More University
For many students and families, navigating college financial aid offers may be daunting. At Thomas More University, we understand the potential obstacles and concerns and are dedicated to transparency and support for students and their families.
A Step-by-Step Guide
Receiving and reviewing college financial aid offers can bring a mix of emotions – excitement, pride, and even anxiety. With the guidance of our Office of Financial Aid, students can follow a straightforward, step-by-step guide to help stay on track, know your options, and ensure you understand the support available to pursue your education. Find this easy-to-follow process online at: tmuky.us/aidprocess.
FAFSA: The First Step Toward Funding
After applying to Thomas More, the first major step is completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) at StudentAid.gov. This form determines eligibility for federal, state, and institutional aid. Thomas More offers a $1,000 incentive award to all students who complete and submit the FAFSA® to Thomas More University (School Code 002001). This award underscores Thomas More’s commitment to providing a Catholic Liberal Arts education that is both impactful and accessible.
Tools to Plan Ahead
We know that smart financial planning means understanding the full picture. Thomas More provides a Financial Aid Calculator as well as an Estimated Cost of Attendance guide to help families anticipate expenses, inform decisions about your college investment, and plan accordingly. Find these tools online at: tmuky.us/moreforless.
Beyond Thomas More’s resources, there are several free online resources available to students and their families as they make their college decisions and explore financial aid options. The U.S. Department of Education’s College Scorecard provides easy and visually appealing comparisons across institutions and fields of study, highlighting not only tuition costs but also median total debt after graduation, typical monthly loan payments, and median graduate earnings. Access the College Scorecard online at CollegeScorecard.ed.gov. Another excellent resource is finaid.org, a comprehensive guide for college students looking for ways to finance their education. This website includes resources for navigating FAFSA®, scholarships, grants, loans, and more.
Commitment to Transparency
Thomas More University is proud to be a partner in the College Cost Transparency Initiative, a coalition of more than 600 higher education institutions dedicated to clarity in financial aid communications. This initiative ensures that students and families receive upfront, understandable information about the true cost of college. By joining this effort, Thomas More reaffirms its mission to provide students with the tools they need to make confident, informed choices about their future.
