New Year Revolution. No, it is not a typo. It is the 26th trip around the sun! We all get to go! That may be a better alternative to a resolution. A resolution is a commitment. A firm decision. A determined intent to make a change. Don’t make resolutions that set you up for failure. Change does not come easy.First, there is the moment in time where the rubber meets the road. It is change… or else.
Second, what is it going to cost to make the change? Not just monetarily, but also what must be given up? A sacrifice.
Third, what is in it for you? What do you gain, if you give something up. Is the gain greater than the give?
Fourth, will the change made positively impact those in your environment? Your snow globe.
If you insist on a resolution, be kind to yourself. It takes at least 6 weeks of focused effort to create and uphold a change. Forming a new habit in exchange for the old. My New Year’s resolution is that I am not making any. I’m just along for the ride. Buckle up!
