Holy Angels Athletics: Building Confidence, Community, and Champions

Athletics at the Academy of the Holy Angels is an integral part of the student experience, offering young women the opportunity to grow as athletes, leaders, and teammates within a supportive, values-driven environment. From middle school through upper school, Holy Angels encourages students of all experience levels to get involved, try something new, and discover the confidence that comes from being part of a team.

With dedicated coaches who bring years of experience in their respective sports, the Holy Angels athletics program emphasizes skill development, sportsmanship, and personal growth. Coaches are deeply invested in mentoring student-athletes, fostering resilience, discipline, and confidence while reinforcing the values that define the Holy Angels community. The program is further strengthened by the leadership of the school’s new Athletic Director, Alexandra Champ, whose passion for empowering young women through athletics reflects the mission of Angels Athletics.

With three athletic seasons and Varsity, Junior Varsity, Freshman, and Middle School teams, Holy Angels ensures there is a space for every Angel to grow—whether she is developing foundational skills or competing at a high level. Many student-athletes go on to achieve success at the conference, county, and state levels, while others discover a lifelong love of movement, teamwork, and belonging. Beyond wins and accolades, athletics at Holy Angels teaches essential life skills such as leadership, time management, and perseverance, helping students carry confidence from the field into the classroom and beyond.

To further support athletic growth and engagement, Holy Angels also offers summer athletic camps that allow students to stay active, sharpen their skills, and experience the school’s welcoming athletic culture firsthand. Open to both current and prospective students, these camps provide an excellent introduction to Holy Angels coaching, facilities, and community, making them a popular entry point for families considering the school.

At Holy Angels, athletics is not just about competition—it is about creating an environment where every student feels encouraged to participate, challenged to grow, and supported by a community that believes in her potential.

Introducing Alexandra Champ, Athletic Director

The Academy of the Holy Angels is thrilled to welcome Alexandra Champ as its new Athletic Director. A Bergen County native, former Division I athlete, and accomplished coach, Champ brings more than 15 years of experience in coaching, athletic leadership, and youth sports development to the Holy Angels community.

Champ competed in both field hockey and lacrosse at the University of Pennsylvania before transitioning into a career in athletics, coaching students from kindergarten through 12th grade across multiple sports. Most recently, she spent 10 years as the Head Girls Lacrosse and Field Hockey Coach at Northern Valley Demarest High School and has extensive experience leading local youth sports programs.
