Their world is as big as you make it. Giving your Pup the opportunity to explore new places is one of the best parts of having a furry sidekick. They deserve to see more of the world than just a house, a backyard, and a walk around the block. Seeing a wagging tail and a busy nose while walking around a new place can brighten anyone’s day.

Traveling with a dog can seem overwhelming at first, but it can also be so rewarding for you and your Pup. With proper preparation, your Pup can enjoy a lovely vacation alongside you and your family! As someone who has traveled to 11 states with their dog by plane and car, it does require a little bit more planning and organization, but it is not impossible! Nowadays, there are numerous options for pet friendly accommodations such as hotels and private rental homes. Whether you like to hike a mountain, lounge on the beach, or explore the shops of a quaint little town, there are plenty of destinations that welcome Pups right here on the East Coast!

If you are going on a road trip with your Pup, remember to stop frequently for bathroom breaks, secure them safely with a dog seatbelt or a designated spot in the car, and don’t leave your Pup in a hot car unattended! If you want to explore the joy of flying with your Pup, many airlines allow small dogs in the cabin for an extra fee. Having a copy of their vaccinations on hand is helpful in case of an emergency. Keeping a collar and tag on your Pup is always a safe option as well as having a dog first aid kit!

Not only is a dog a great companion while traveling, but they also invite conversation and socialization! You never know what you’ll learn while talking to new people on vacation. Most fellow dog owners are happy to stop and chat about things to do or places to see!

Your Pup can also take you places that you never thought of going like a new restaurant  with outdoor seating or a dog friendly hiking trail. You can also check websites like Bringfido.com that give you dog friendly places, restaurants, and other fun activities to do in the area. Taking your Pup on vacation is also a great way to get them some exercise. Walking around a place with new sights and smells will tire your dog out quicker than you could imagine! It is so mentally and physically stimulating that your Pup will thank you with wet slobbery kisses! With that, giving your Pup these experiences will strengthen your bond even more, and the memories you make will last a lifetime. Wherever you decide to go, your dog will be excited to do it. That is why they are the best travel companions.

All in all, your dog will absolutely love to travel with you.

They will be happy as long as they’re next to you. So, next time you are planning a trip, make sure you include your furry friend!
