Mini Moos and Mortgages
The other day my sister stopped by to pick up a few things, and I casually told her I had to head back inside because I was making sourdough bread. Totally normal sentence…right?
She paused, looked around at my life, and said, “Mini moos and sourdough bread? I feel like you’re a modern-day pioneer.”
Fair. Very fair.
Now – important context – she is also the editor of these magazine articles, which means she is finding out right about…now that I’m getting a flour mill next. I can already hear her saying, “What are you, Little House on the Prairie over here?”
And honestly? She’s not wrong.
Yes, at the beginning of December, I officially became a mini moo momma to two freakishly adorable mini Highland cows named Georgia and Joleen. They are tiny, fluffy, dramatic, and absolutely running the show around here. Pictures added for cuteness. I’m not obsessed…okay, I’m obsessed.
In true pioneer fashion (with better skincare), we’re also starting a garden. My husband built raised metal beds, and by the next time I get to grace you with an article, I’m hoping to report back with fully cultivated, thriving garden beds – and not just dirt and good intentions.
Speaking of my husband, he is absolutely to blame for some of this lifestyle shift. I take full responsibility for the mini moos, but he was the catalyst for sourdough bread, a flour mill, and the garden – an interesting hobby set for a diesel technician. Nothing says “fixing heavy machinery” like fermenting dough and researching soil health. I digress.
As y’all are reading this, we’re starting to ease into spring, which in my world means one thing: moving season. When I’m not gallivanting around the property with Georgia and Joleen, I’m helping people find the next place to call home. I even started a little Instagram series called “Monday Mini Moo-nologues” where I talk real estate and local living – because where you live matters just as much as the house itself.
Based on how January kicked off, I’m predicting a busy year. We still have a good amount of inventory, which is great news for buyers looking for solid opportunities – and maybe even a deal or two. Sellers? It’s all about making your home shine and pricing it right. The market is moving – it just rewards strategy over guesswork.
And while I may be out here churning butter in spirit, let’s be clear: I still get my monthly facials at Siren Beauty and Wellness in Buda. Pioneer? Yes – bougie pioneer.
If you want a peek into authentic (and not AI generated) Hays County living (think mini moos, fitness, floofs, local favorites, and just enough real estate), come find me on Instagram: @fourleggedfarmhouse.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go check on my sourdough…and my cows…and probably MLS.
