Trust: The 2 Bros Renovate Standard

Trust is defined as a firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something. So how have I built trust in my personal relationships—especially with my daughters? It begins, and is sustained, through communication. Trust grows when communication is open, honest, and mutual: when we are willing not only to speak truthfully, but also to receive honesty in return.

That may sound simple, but in practice it rarely is. Honest conversations can surface uncomfortable emotions and invite defensiveness if we are not willing to look inward. Yet I have found that the most difficult conversations are often the most meaningful. They strengthen bonds, encourage self-reflection, and create space for growth. When we choose honesty even when it feels risky, we reinforce the foundation of trust. When people know they can speak openly with you—and that you will do the same—it creates a sense of safety that deepens relationships.

Being a father to four amazing daughters has taught me both the value of honesty and the responsibility that comes with it. I am the first man who teaches them about communication, integrity, and trust. I also teach them that trust is earned, not assumed, and that it should be treated as something sacred. I want them to understand that not everyone they meet will be trustworthy, and that the people who are should be cherished and respected. Most importantly, I encourage them to live in a way that demonstrates trustworthiness through their own actions.

These same principles guide the way I do business. I make every effort to foster open and honest communication with my clients, whether that means holding myself accountable or, when necessary, holding them accountable as well. Over time, clients come to appreciate direct and transparent communication, and those relationships are built on foundations strong enough to grow and last.

When a client invites me into their home or business, they are placing significant trust in me—not only to deliver the quality of work we agreed upon, but to respect the space where they raise their family or earn their living. That is not something I take lightly. I work hard to build trust from the first conversation and to maintain it long after the project is complete.

In both my personal life and my professional life, I understand that trust is essential to building strong, lasting relationships. I work every day to be worthy of the trust others place in me. It is this commitment that allows relationships to grow into something more meaningful than a single project or transaction—into experiences that carry value well beyond the work itself.

I look forward to sharing more with you next month.
