Discover the Missing Link to Lasting Relief at Wolffpack Wellness Myofascial Release
In the hardworking communities in Bremer County, we push through.
We tolerate stiff backs.
We manage tight shoulders.
We accept headaches.
We assume discomfort is just part of getting older.
But what if it isn’t? What if the pain you’ve been managing isn’t just a muscle issue, but something deeper? What if the answer lies in a system most people have never been taught about?
Fascia: The Body’s Only Whole-Body System
Fascia is a three-dimensional web of connective tissue that surrounds, penetrates, and interconnects every muscle, bone, nerve, blood vessel, organ, and cell in your body.
It is the body’s only true whole-body system.
Fascia acts as:
- A structural support matrix
- A communication network
- A transport medium for nutrients and biochemicals
- A regulator of fluid dynamics
- A conductor of mechanical and bioelectrical information
When restrictions develop, due to injury, surgery, repetitive strain, inflammation, or stress, fascia can tighten like shrink wrap. These restrictions create pressure on pain-sensitive structures, impair circulation and lymphatic flow, disrupt nerve signaling, affect digestion and hormonal balance, and contribute to chronic pain patterns.
Because fascia connects everything, the source of pain is often not where you feel it. An ankle restriction can contribute to hip pain. An abdominal scar can affect the low back. Chronic neck tension can influence headaches and nerve symptoms. This is why many people experience temporary relief, but not lasting change.
What Is Myofascial Release?
Myofascial Release (MFR) is a specialized, hands-on therapy designed to gently and precisely release restrictions within the fascial system.
The John F. Barnes Myofascial Release Approach® uses sustained, intentional pressure held long enough to allow the tissue to soften and transition from a restricted state into a more fluid, balanced one. This is not massage. It is not forceful manipulation. It is not symptom chasing. It is whole-body, system-based care.
When fascial restrictions release:
- Pain decreases
- Circulation improves
- Lymphatic flow increases
- Nerve irritation reduces
- Movement becomes freer
- The nervous system shifts toward regulation
Many clients report not only physical improvement, but emotional release, deeper breathing, improved digestion, and a profound sense of coherence. One client’s review states: “I had the most AMAZING treatment 1/13/23. I’ve had several sessions, each amazing with varying experiences & results every time. Each treatment builds upon the last. I didn’t realize the burden I was carrying. Today I feel so much lighter, almost weightless. My head, neck, shoulders & back are relaxed & more mobile. I feel taller & breathe easier. I’m filled with love, light & gratitude. There is a deep sense of calm & happiness in my being.”
A Legacy of Excellence — And Continuing Dedication
In March, I will be returning to Sedona, Arizona, for two weeks to complete 60 additional hours of continuing education as I progress toward the “Expert Level” designation in the John F. Barnes Myofascial Release Approach®. This advanced training represents years of dedication, clinical integration, and personal growth within this work.
As many of you know, John F. Barnes passed away at the end of last year. His influence on the field of manual therapy, and on my own professional path, cannot be overstated. While his physical presence is no longer with us, his work is very much alive. His instructors continue to teach and mentor therapists across the country, and those of us extensively trained in his system remain deeply committed to carrying his torch forward.
His philosophy has always emphasized treating the entire fascial system, not just chasing symptoms, and that principle remains at the core of my practice here in Waverly.
I Don’t Just Practice This Work — I Receive It
My commitment to continuing education is not only professional — it is personal.
While in Sedona, I will also be receiving treatment at Therapy on the Rocks. In addition, at the end of May, I will spend five days in Aurora, Illinois receiving 15 hours of Myofascial Release from another highly skilled therapist. This will be my fourth immersive experience within the John F. Barnes MFR work.
Receiving this work has profoundly impacted my own health. It has helped me resolve low back pain, reduce migraines and headaches, improve chronic neck tension from past whiplash injuries, address long-standing right arm restrictions from a birth injury, improve digestion, reduce nerve pain, increase mobility, and even assist in processing stored emotional patterns within the fascial system.
I believe deeply that to truly facilitate healing in others, we must also do our own healing work.
Continuing to receive treatment allows me to show up more present, more grounded, and more attuned to the subtle layers of the fascial and energetic systems.
Why Whole-Body Treatment Matters
At Wolffpack Wellness Myofascial Release, I combine:
- The John F. Barnes Myofascial Release Approach®
- Osteopathic manual therapy principles
- Structural alignment assessment
- Nervous system regulation techniques
- Whole-system evaluation
If your If your shoulder hurts, I don’t just treat your shoulder. If your back aches, I don’t just treat your back.
I assess the entire structure; feet, pelvis, spine, diaphragm, cranial base, because everything influences everything else.
This is comprehensive, individualized care.
A Gentle Reminder as We Move Into Spring
As we transition into a new season, this is a reminder:If you are beginning to notice symptoms returning like tightness, headaches, low back discomfort, nerve symptoms, digestive issues, or simply a sense that your body feels “off”, please don’t wait. The sooner we address a restriction in the fascial system, the easier it is to restore fluidity and prevent patterns from solidifying into chronic conditions. Early intervention allows the body to return to balance before compensation patterns become deeply ingrained.
Imagine…Waking up without stiffness. Sitting without discomfort. Moving freely again. Breathing deeply.
Feeling aligned and grounded in your body. Returning to activities you thought were out of reach.
Your body is not broken, it may simply be restricted.
It is truly an honor to support this community’s healing journey. Thank you for trusting me with your care and for allowing Wolffpack Wellness Myofascial Release to be part of your path toward greater coherence, mobility, and vitality.
If you are ready to experience the difference of whole-body Myofascial Release, I invite you to schedule a session from my website or give me a call.
Your body has an incredible capacity to heal when given the right environment.
Let’s restore fluidity.
Let’s restore balance.
Let’s restore you.
With gratitude and continued dedication,
Jonathan Wolff, MSPT
