Good things come in threes.
When photographing cats, I often take on the very serious role of a heartbroken ex. You know the type: obnoxiously whining for your attention. Waving snacks and gifts in front of your face, on my knees begging, pleading. I’m a self-professed Stage 5 Clinger. I hate to stoop to such levels, but when you’re outnumbered, you do what you must.
In all reality, this trio did not mind my disruption. Led by Leon, followed by Trip, then finally Mozzie, these cats were born for the camera. Having heaps of things in common aside from being feline, they each have three legs. Yep, each whiskered member of this band has lost a limb. Witnessing their fuzzy bodies be propelled at such speeds, I’d say they don’t know what they’re missing, nor do they care.
The Sullivan family is unsure about how Leon lost his leg; he was the first rescue. Trip was born with his umbilical cord wrapped around his leg—it was removed when he was 8 weeks old. Mozzie was attacked by a dog, and the incident was posted in a Facebook group, where (now) owner Kenady Sullivan—well-known in the world of rescue—was mentioned by name.
When you look into their orbed eyes, you see resilience. You can see the trust that has been built, time being the hammer and nail. Kenady rescued all three: again, first Leon, then Trip, and lastly Mozzie. You see, good things come in threes—and Kenady showed up every time.
