Perennials to Watch: The Standout Blooms of 2026

There’s something renewing about spring; warmer temperatures and longer daylight hours mean more time in the garden to plant something beautiful.

As you cultivate and plan for your own gardens these next few weeks, you may want to consider some standout perennial blooms. There are many in the new lineup, but we’ve narrowed the list to a few of our favorites. These 2026 plants are versatile, colorful, long-blooming, heat-tolerant, attractive to pollinators, low-maintenance, and will elevate many areas in your gardens and landscapes.

Another major plus for these plants is they are great for both novice gardeners and expert gardeners, as they adapt well to basic good plant care.

Our curated list of new perennial standouts include:

Armeria Dreameria® Hypnotic Dreams: This full-sun perennial has deep red, globe shaped flowers and tidy green foliage. Plants typically reach 10-12” tall and are heat and drought tolerant, once established. Deer resistant and attractive to butterflies, this low-maintenance perennial thrives best in full sun with well-drained soil and is ideal for containers, rock gardens, and landscape plantings.

Dianthus Scent First® Orange Sparkler: Like the name implies, this fragrant perennial features double blooms in late spring to early to mid summer, with a warm orange color, accented by pink flecks. Stems are sturdy, making it suitable for borders, containers, and cut flowers. Orange Sparkler attracts bees and butterflies and may continue blooming in the fall with regular deadheading.

Geum Coccineum ‘Pumpkin Orange: This uniquely shaped, vibrant orange-flowering perennial adds bold color to your garden. It generally grows 16-20” tall with a spread of 10-12.” Blooming begins in late spring, with repeat flowering possible into summer and early fall when deadheaded. It has a neat and tidy habit and attracts pollinators. It’s the type of plant that works well in perennial borders and containers.

Tradescantia ‘Webmaster’: This perennial produces soft purple flowers, with a lilac colored edge, and typically blooms from late spring into early midsummer. It adapts to a range of light conditions, from full sun to partial shade (best flowering occurs in sun to light shade). Reaching about 18” tall with a spread of up to 24,” it does well in borders, mass planting, woodland gardens and containers. It attracts butterflies and bees.

Heliopsis helianthoides ‘Touch of Blush’: Commonly known as a “false sunflower,” this long-blooming, pretty perennial features yellow toned, daisy-like flowers with overlapping petals. This is a pollinator-friendly and drought tolerant (once established) plant and typically grows 18-24” tall and wide. Looks great for middle or back border planting.

These represent just a small sampling of the new varieties, and are only a fraction of the full selection of perennials our nursery will be offering.

With so many 2026 perennials to choose from, there’s no shortage of beauty or possibilities as far as planting goes this spring.
